No, hickies will not make you sick, they are not a STD like the clap or syph, but merely a bruise caused by Romeo sucking too hard on your skin! They may be unsightly, but they're not dangerous. The only unhealthy thing they might cause is that burning sensation where you sit if your daddy finds 'em!

Love-bites or hickeys are a temporary mark or bruise on one's skin resulting from kissing or sucking (not necessarily biting) forcefully enough to burst blood vessels beneath the skin. They could also be called "love-marks","passion marks" or "slag tags", since actual biting is usually not involved, but this usage is not widespread.

They can sometimes be 'lip' shaped. People who do not bruise easily can find them quite painful due to the amount of pressure applied to get the desired result.

Love bites last, depending on the person, from 4-5 days.

Violinists, who can easily receive a similar-looking mark on their neck from the pressure of the chin rest while practicing, are often mistaken for having a love bite.

1. Hickeys
Ok, so we all know that hickeys are the result of an overzealous set of lips suction-cupping themselves to an area of skin and sucking until surface blood vessels break, right? Right, so I won’t elaborate on the subject any more here.

2. How to Get Rid of a Hickey
The question remains, once all of that blood is trapped right beneath the skin’s surface, how do you get rid of it?

Tips for Hiding and Removing Hickeys

If you catch the hickey soon enough, your can minimize the mark by immediately applying ice.
Surface stimulation will help disperse the blood. Gently rub and massage the area.
Using a comb or a hairbrush to massage the area works better than fingers and hands.
Using any tubular object with a domed end, apply steady pressure over the hickey and twist. It will hurt, but it will help. Lipstick caps, pen caps, and blistex caps work. The goal is to work the blood deeper into the skin.
Make the hickey worse - if you use a curling iron, have your ‘friend’ reshape the hickey to match the pattern that it would make if you had burned yourself accidentally. This can work with any likely burn or bruise scenario.
Utilize turtleneck sweaters, scarves, or makeup to cover it up.
Rub vitamin K into the area.
Apply a warm, moist, used tea-bag as a hot compress. Repeatedly re-wet and re-warm it as needed until the hickey disappears.

No they are not unhealthy for you. When someone sucks on your skin; your blood is pulled up into your skin creating a round and red mark. They are nothing to worry about and there is no way that they can make you ill.

Hickies are like a bruise... except not as bad. It's just the blood sucked up closer to the surface... they don't hurt, and they can't make you ill, but I don't think anyone is honestly stupid enough to think hickies can make you ill.

hickey is nothing more than the breakage of small capillaries near the surface of the skin, like a blood blister in way.

can't make you sick or anything...but if done in the same area over and over they can start to cause scaring.

no they don't make you ill, the most they do is bring the blood vessels close to the surface and very slightly a chance of cancer but tht will never happen

Yeah! They have been linked to certain forms of skin cancer. If you have one you will want to wash it off with a little bleach as soon as possible!
