The higher number 153 is high, you should be about 120, and the lower number isn't great either, 80-85 would be better.
See you doctor.

If your blood pressure is this high, just once in a while like once a month, or after exerting yourself or smoking a cigarrette, it is not a big deal, but if it is consistantly high then your blood pressure is too high, anybody with systolic of over 140 should see a physician. You should take your blood pressure everyday at the same time and write it down then show the doctor. If you are a smoker then you should do it first thing in the morning before you smoke, smoking will give you inconsistant readings. A doctor would probably put you on medication to decrease your blood pressure if this is a consistant reading for you. It is high but not high enough to panick but high enough that you shouldn't put off seeing a physician

Thats a little high.....But there are so many factors that contribute to what your BP is. Sleep, Fatigue, Diet, Stress, Exercise etc... I wouldn't worry about it too much. I am only 24 and have what is known as "White coat symdrome." As soon as I get to the doctors office my blood pressure goes out of this roof to 160/110. Normally it is about 130/85. Some people just have high blood pressure naturally. Not saying ignore it, keep your eye on it and everything should be fine! :) Hope your having a good day!

High blood pressure
There is no ‘ideal’ blood pressure reading. The following figures for clinic blood pressures can be used as a guide:
Normal blood pressure: less than 120/80
High/Normal: between 120/80 and 140/90
High: equal to or more than 140/90
Very high: equal to or more than 180/110
High blood pressure usually does not give warning signs. You can have high blood pressure and feel perfectly well. The only way to find out if your blood pressure is high is by having it checked regularly.

Practice the Alexander Technique to bring it down. Perhaps you are under a lot of stress but it is good to know that you are aware of a potential health issue.
Whilst not unduly high you need to regularly monitor your blood pressure. Does high blood pressure run in your family if so perhaps you need to take up some sort of activity such as squash or badminton.
Mine was sky high a few weeks ago but now regular exercise is bringing it down to an acceptable level.
I assume you are talking about yourself forgive me if I am being presumptuous.
All the best Nettie UK lass.

Bottom number over 70 is High. I cannot tell what you have for your weight. A couple of things come into play here. Was this a one time reading? Meaning, Was your pressure taken more than once on this day? If so, Were all of your readings high? You don't need to take more than 3 readings daily. You should be at rest when your blood pressure is being taken. If your pressure shows consistently high, you need to see your Doctor to discuss options on bringing it back down.

It's higher than we'd like it to be - ideally we'd want it to be less than 140/80. High blood pressure puts you at higher risk of heart attacks and strokes among other problems. First step would be to make lifestyle modifications - stop smoking, eat a healthy diet, reduce salt intake, and do regular exercise. Recheck BP after a couple of months, if it's still high despite lifestyle modifications it would be a good idea to start medication to lower it.

moderately high. high enough to be on medication. don't have any idea what 14 stone is but if your over weight you need to loose weight. but first you need to go to a doctor and get checked out. I know. I'm 51 and have had high blood pressure all my life and been on high blood pressure medication of one kind or another since I was 19. Good luck.

You need to monitor your blood pressure more often and see if this is a pattern. Take it when you are at rest. Allow some time before an activity to see what your true resting pressure is. If this is a trend, see a physician for treatment ASAP.
Good luck!
