Usually, when one uses this term, it means a heart attack. But I suppose myocardial injury could be caused by a cardiac contusion or crush injury to the chest, as well.

The roots to the word myocardial are:
myo - referring to muscle
cardio - from the Greek kardia; meaning the heart.

Myocardial injury would mean an injury to the heart muscle. This could be some kind of physical trauma like an impact. It could also be some sort of damage due to a defect. It could even be damage caused by a lack of oxygen reaching the heart muscle.

Any kind of heart problem could be serious, period.

If you or someone you know has some sort of undiagnosed myocardial injury, it would be very important for them to see a doctor, NOW.

Definition

Myocardial Injury is a "bruise" of the heart muscle, often caused by blunt trauma to the chest following falls, motor vehicle accidents, or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). This can cause abnormal heart movement and "stunning" of the affected area of heart muscle.
In non-severe cases, the affected area of heart muscle often regains its function without any permanent scarring.
OTHER CAUSES:
Zn, Nitrous oxide, Carbon monoxide poising, etc.

The Prognosis depends upon the amount of myocardium damaged e.g in CO poisoning carries a poor chance.

It is usually caused by an injury to the muscle of the heart causing some abnormal beats. If the injury is not to severe, the heart regains normal function as the bruising goes away.

it means bruising of the heart muscle usually from trauma such as a car accident. This can cause abnormal heart movement of the affected area. In non-severe cases, the affected area of the heart muscle often regains function without permanent scaring. Not knowing the degree of it, can't say if it is critical serious. You need to consult this with your doctor.
