I was shopping online for some seamless socks for my daughter who is extremely picky about the seam on any pair of socks. In my search, I came across more than one connection of seamless socks and diabetes. Then I asked my brother in law who has diabetes if he has problems with the seams in his socks. He said he can't stand the seams and has to have seamless socks or he wont wear them. My daughters father is borderline diabetic, and it runs in my family, however I am not. Is my daughter just being the picky little princess I think she is, or could there be a problem?

Not enough information. I'm diabetic, control my blood sugar well, and wear cheap socks. All with no problem. So, I don't see what socks have to do with diabetes. If you're worried about it, this is neither the place, nor the time to do something about it. Take her to the doctor and get a glucose tolerance test, and/or a hemoglobin A1C test to find out what's really going on. Chances are, nothing is wrong.

If it's in her family, by all it means it is entirely possible, or it is possible she is the picky little princess you think she is. Does she have any physical signs other than the seams in her socks bothering her? If so have her tested. That is the only way to answer your question.

My step sister's husband has it (Type II) and their youngest daughter developed it at age 2. When her older sister started showing some of the signs (she was 6 or 7 ) they tested her on her fathers and sisters blood sugar testers and she was very high. They then took her to the doctor to confirm their suspicions. Maybe test her on her uncles tester to see what her sugar levels are, and go from there, but judging from what you say, everything is probably fine. However if it is going to keep you up at night, get her tested.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I am diabetic and didn't get it until I was a adult. The symptoms of diabetes are thirst (increased) increased urination, blurred vision, weight loss. Diabetes cause peripheral neuropathy which is the loss to sensation to hands and feet because the sugar in the blood damages nerves and also organs including the brain, heart, and eyes. Diabetes affects everything. Control of the blood sugar is most important using diet, medication and following a qualified physician. The socks you speak of because of the nerves damage in the feet offer no seams which could cause a breakdown of the tissue causing ulcers and infection As far as your daughter she should be checked periodically through a good physical exam for diabetes and as far as the socks that wouldn't hurt her.

This is not nearly enough of a test...your daughter needs a fasting blood test (someone you know who tests their own blood could help out). If this is even a little high, and your daughter exhibits other signs, like listed on this website: http://diabetes.about.com/od/symptomsdiagnosis/p/Symptoms.htm

Anyway, if she tests high on the fasting blood sugar, high meaning anything above 110, get to the doctor and get a A1c test ( though you can go to the pharmacy and by a home test, very accurate, too).

Good luck, and don't mess around...get her checked if you are worried.

I am diabetic...and the seams inside socks don't bother me.

Not wanting a seam in your socks is not a sign of diabetes. She is a princess and I can see how much you care about her well being!
The doctor will do a urine test at her check up every year and let you know if there is anything to be concerned about.
Enjoy your princess!

more than likely she's just being picky. if you're concerned I'd talk to her doctor about it. below are some links that will give you more information on diabetes and the symptoms to look for. diabetes runs on both sides of my family (primarily type 1 on my dad's side and my mother's father is type 2 so I've done a lot of research)

i believe your daughter is just being picky because the seams sometimes can irritate the skin when you walk. if she had other symptoms like drinking plenty, dizziness, going to the toilet alot, dry mouth, blurred vision and other symptoms. If your still worried go to the doctors and demand for a blood test to check and be persistent about it.
