it's been so long, and i have a big huge gigantic feal of needles.[im 14] im supposed to get the overy cancer shot or something....hpv??? whatever it is i dont want it. ever. it looks to scary. i want to be a nun, so there. now i have no reason for getting it because i cant get hpv if i practice abstinance[sp??]

so WHY do i still have to get it??

and did anybody watch the news the other day? why would they ake that shot manditory to be enrolled in school? thes stupid. getting the disease wont affect other people unless your having sex with them. so why should it be manditory? then people with aids shouldnt be alloud to be enrolled in school considering it is transmitted the same way . all stupid laws.

Oh and sorry for not replying to the rambling part of your post, but it's nice to know you have a "bear" with you.

Shots only hurt if you are anticipating them. If you have a parent with you and are talking to them while the nurse gives you the injection, you should be distracted enough. In that case, all you will feel is a little pinch. If you are concentrating and bracing yourself for pain, blood will automatically rush to the injection site and make it hurt. Basically, it could go either way. Good luck with the shot!
By the way, I wouldn't grumble too much, the shot is for your protection against cervial and ovarian cancer, these are the result of some strains of HPV. Just be glad you have the opportunity, unlike many others who have died from the virus.

It sounds like you need to talk this over with your pediatrician or gynecologist.

As far as do shots hurt? Yes, of course. It's not that bad really. More like getting pinched. The more you keep the target area relaxed, the smaller the pinch will be.

When you see the big needles that get used, remember it's only the very tip that goes in, not the whole needle. Also remember that it's over in about 20 seconds.

Talk it over with your doctor and your parents, then decide what you should do. Last thing to remember, there are more girls who dreamed of becoming nuns and changed there dreams than there are girls who became nuns. Be safe!

It is for your health to get the shot. Just think about something else when you go in to get the shot. Think of something happy. Don't watch them stick you with the needle. Turn away and think of something else and by the time you feel the little sting it is all over with. When I was younger and having one of my babies. I had to go get some blood work done. I was so nervous, but it happened so fast and then it was over with.

Shots hurt like hell. Bring a ipod and turn the music up loud. Talk to the nurse and tell her you're terrified. She'll understand. Don't look at the needle and don't look as you're getting the shot.

A shot won't hurt as much as ovarian cancer...besides if you're gonna be a nun you're going to have to go through a physical first anyway which will probably contain a shot. Just do it, it doesn't hurt

Depends on where you get it and who's giving it. Ask or tell the person giving it to you how scared you are and ask to be gentle...they will...You should get all required shots for protection, it protects you..

Getting a shot (needle) feels like being shot with a bullet.

EDIT:

Just kiddin, actually it feels like a giraffe that is trying to have sex with your arm. Hope this helps.
