hi.

i have been ttc my second child for 7 months now my daughter took 9 months to concieve.

while pg with her i found out i had an std (no i don't sleep around and neither does my fiance) but we could of caught it off one of our exes and passed it on. before i got treated for it we could of had it for at least 2 years maybe more depending on who had it in the first place.

i know that this std can cause infertility and although it took us only 9 months for my daughter i had very irregular cycles and we literally did the deed every day maybe twice a day for 2 weeks.

i know i should wait at least a year before seeing my doctor but is there any chance he will do tests on us earlier to see if this std has affected me or my fiances fertility.

please no horrible comments or rude remarks. i am not a s**g nor a teen we are both in our 20's

I don't understand why you would want to wait a year to be tested for a suspected STD.

Irregular cycles can mean hormones, not stds, are a problem.

You did not mention which std you had or what the signs or symptoms were, so this is very hard to say over the internet.

You need to have this taken care of, whatever it is. Herpes is not cured, the virus that causes warts are always going to be in your body (even if you haven't had any), chlamydia is taken care of very easily, and syphilis is NOT something you wait for to go away (open lesion, even minor) because it lives in your body until you are older, to come back to you and be far worse than the initial infection.

Please see a doctor- this is not something you ignore.

considering it has already been seven months and you have a history of stds I would think you could definitely get your Dr to do some tests. You don't mention what std you had, but if for example it was chlamydia, that could cause tubal occlusion if you went with out treating it for a while. And tubal occlusion would greatly reduce your chances of conceiving. I would go talk to my Dr and explain your concerns. If he won't help it is time to find a new ob!

I think your doctor would certainly be willing to test you, especially if you have/had an STD. There are a lot of other concerns that your gyne will want to check into to ensure that you can conceive a healthy baby. Please make an appt. And while you are there, you should ask about things you can do to help increase your chances of conceiving, like tracking your basal body temperature to help determine your most fertile times, etc.

For women with irregular cycles, you need more than a calendar to figure out which days you should have intercourse in order to conceive. There are ovulation kits on the market, but I believe NFP (Natural Family Planning) is most effective. Your personal symptom data plus the NFP rules for when to have intercourse in order to conceive will maximize your chances.

I don't know if a doctor will examine you for infertility yet. But I do know if you bring you NFP chart history with you, it will help the doctor to diagnose you.
Google "natural family planning" and "classes" to find a class near you.
Here are a few general reference links to start.

Yes, go see a doctor now, Chlamydia can lead to PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease)when not treated ASAP. Chlamydia can cause infertilifty, but in different cases. Don't rely on the internet for answers, you must see a GP immediately.

don't worry, most people that get STI's are people in relationships, alot of people, and i mean alot, have been in your position before.

good luck

Numerous things can cause infertility.

And no one should make rude comments on STDs...it doesn't take a slut to get one, you can get one the first time. To believe otherwise is ignorant.

Hi, I'm glad that you seem to have gotten your answer already.
I'm not being rude, but just wanted to let you know (for future reference) that it would be easier to read and comprehend your questions if you didn't use so many abbreviations. It takes a grip of time to decode.

Hope everything goes alright for you.
