Hi Everyone :]

In the spring, I am planning on having a wonderful and elegant tea party. Everyone will be dressed up and looking pretty.

What kind of food should I serve?
What kind of activities should we do?

We're in high school, people, so "kiddy" stuff please

Thank you so much, I really appreciate all your help and advice :]

An assortment of teas - fruit, flower, green and black instead of plain tea would be good. It would also be nice to have lemon wedges, honey, sugar cubes and milk to go with the tea. Instead of the traditional cucumber sandwiches, you might want to try to turkey, chicken or tuna wraps and cut them into rounds. You could use mini bagels and top them with jam and/or cream cheese, meat and cheese or anything else you like. You could toast the mini bagels and sprinkle them with olive oil and top them with fresh veggies and herbs. Individual desserts are a big part of a tea party. Scones, fruit tarts, small cakes and other assorted mini pastries would be good. If you and your friends like chocolate, you could make your own truffles or chocolate covered strawberries/cherries. For a modern twist, you could do a cupcake tower!
Thinking games would be a good - charades, guesstures scatergories. You could do a scavenger hunt. This could be done inside and/or outside. You could make jewelry and exchange it with one another.
Don't over think the party. It is important to serve what you and your friends will actually eat, and you should do what you and your friends will be comfortable doing and will actually enjoy. Just have fun!

I've gome out to tea in many cities around the world and hosted several "grown up" teas myself- very fun! Do it in "stages" like the fancy hotels do.

Start with two kinds of tea (or if it's hot, an iced tea, too).

Then have scones (you can bake your own or get some from a bakery). Serve with jam and thick/clotted cream.

Then have tea sandwiches. Traditionally cucumber or tomato, but you could do chicken salad or cheese or whatever you think your friends would like. Just make sure to cut off the crusts and then cut into 4 triangles.

Finish with a dessert. You could make mini cakes or tarts or you could make a regular dessert and serve slices.

Offer refills on tea throughout.

For activities you could play cards or just sit around a chat or gossip. Just enjoy - don't feel like you have to plan some elaborate schedule. The fun of the tea itself will make for a good time even without games.

Have fun!

As a professional chef, I have some good suggestions on the food... Can't help so much with activities though.

Obviously you should serve tea, coffee, higher end bottled water such as Voss, Perrier, etc and perhaps lemonade depending on where you live and the springtime temp. Foods should consist of bakery items such as lemon curd, scones, tea cookies and lady fingers. Any quality bakery in your town or city should either have these daily or be able to prepare them special for your event. As a rule of thumb, plan on 3-4 cookies per person as you are not serving a meal.... sort of like a standing cocktail reception before a wedding.

Tea Sandwiches: easy to prepare and only limited by your imagination. Tea sandwiches are small finger sandwiches that you can eat within 3 bites and are normally highly garnished. I would suggest smoked salmon with whipped cream cheese, chives on white bread rounds. Smoked shaved turkey breast on wheat bread with cranberry mayo and cheddar cheese. Rye bread with sliced granny smith apple, shaved gouda and an herbed cream cheese spread or boursin cheese for more of a vegetarian option. Shaved Virginia ham with spicy mustard on a pumpkin mini biscuit.... garnished with 1/2 a raspberry.

These you can make at home or feel free to use my examples and expand from there. Again, I would suggest maybe around 2-3 per person depending on the number of people attending. ***This number increases for both the baked goods and sandwiches if there are any boys (young men) attending as men typically eat more at these events. Also be certain to reserve a few of each item in the kitchen to bring out later in the party as to replenish your 'buffet'.

Hope this helps in your planning and have fun, that's the most important part!!

I think I would serve some sandwiches cut into 4 pieces with the crust cut off, something lite, maybe chicken or shrimp salad. For dessert Petit Fours would be pretty. (A pain in the butt to make lol)
4 Cup salad is nice too.
1 cup each canned & drained mandarin orange slices
canned & drained crushed pineapple
shredded coconut
small marshmallows
sour cream
Mix and chill ( is very colorful)

I see playing croquet (like in the Great Gatsby)
Maybe "Parlor Games" such as Charades, or old baord games, : Parchesi, and have a tournament.

Sounds like fun. Enjoy yourselves

that is awesome! I did this for my neices when they were in high school. If you want it to be traditional english tea party, you might want to serve cucumber sandwiches with watercress (trip the crust off the bread) jam cakes, clotted cream (can find these in specialty markets. smoked salmon (might not appeal to age group) If not traditional english, then any nice finger foods, dips, petit fors, deli meat spread with seasoned cream cheese and wrapped up like cigars, crackers with interesting toppings like cheese mousse, shrimp in cocktail sauce, mini pizzas. Have fun planning! If I can help with anything, feel free to email me Another fun thing would be to ask everyone to wear an outrageous hat! (can easily find in thrift store)

Your racism and lack of understanding are exhibiting. Tea bagger is a gay term. Michael Steele is a black guy, no longer a "meant" black guy. He would not desire he became white, and he's a patriotic American, no longer an uncle Tom. recover from the racism and picture approximately what's superb for the country. Be embarrassed for your self.
