I didn't sleep with her, but there was definately genital contact. I noticed only a few small warts on the shaft on my penis, and have since had them treated. Since I already have the virus in my system, I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about getting the warts again. If I already have HPV and come into contact with warts that she may have (i understand it's hard for girls to treat internal warts, so she probably has some), will I have an outbreak, or will I have a sort of immunity to it?

The way I understand it, there are many, many different strains of HPV. While you don't have to worry about the kind you already have, it is possible that she has other kinds, as well. Your best bet is to use protection during any genital contact.

there are more than 100 types of hpv, 40 of them being sexually transmitted. the cdc estimates that over 50% of people will contact one of these forms. most people dont even know they have the virus and will transmit it without ever knowing. are you sure that this girl was the one who gave it to you? the symptoms may remain dormant for a long period of time (years) and once they are contracted will always remain. condoms can be used but are not 100% effective with this virus (but use them to prevent other stds though). if either of you do have the warts you can go to a dr. of planned parenthood to have them removed and to further educate yourselves on what to do/not to do.

Well it won't do any additional damage, but HPV is permanately in your system. Many times even after warts are treated or dissapear on their own they will come back.

You already have the one strain, which you will always have, but you can't "catch" it again.

That doesn't mean that you can't catch other strains though. I would advise using protection.

If she has HPV what else might she have? Use protection or stay away! HPV is nothing compared to HIV, herpes and others.
