If you arent sure, then yes, any open spot in your mouth that had contact could in fact infect you.

If it is just a slit, caused by cold weather or dry lips, you don't have anything that can be "transmitted". Anyway, the contrary isn't true. Some infections can be "invisible" at some stages and your slit will make it much easier for YOU to get infected.
Anyway, I would advise you that if you have something in your mouth, even a slit, avoid doing things that involve using your mouth as it will be harder to make it go away: for example, performing oral sex makes you open you mouth quite a bit and saliva and the continuous friction on the penis will only worsen the slit...
If he does not have anything at all, you're fine, in what concerns transmission of infections.

No, you cannot give him herpes from doing that. Even if it were a cold sore, he still wouldn't get it. I get cold sores once in a while, and my boyfriend never got one on his mouth, or anywhere else. And we've been together for 7 years.

Even if you don't have a cut you can get a STD from a person who has it. If he doesn't have one, you cant, but if he does, it doesn't matter if your mouth is perfect, you still can get STDs.
