Depends, most cigarretts have a great many chemicals added in processing, its the burning of those chemicals that are primarily linked to cancer. The nicotine is the addicting chemical, and hte tobacco on its own though not exactly healthy is the least dangerous substance in them.

Marijuana on the other hand lacks the cancer causing chemicals and doesn't have the nicotine. However the THC in marijuana has addicting properties of its own, and has a far stronger effect on the body and especially the brain then tobacco.

According to most studies marijuana smokers tend to smoke far less then those cigarette smokers. The cigarette smokers tend to suffer more from various cancers, where as the marijuana smokers tend to have more problems related to brain functions. However there are various contradicting studies on what the exact long term effect of THC on the different parts of brain is.

Personally I fell that cigarettes are worse for you. But marijuana isn't exactly safe either.

It depends. Do you want to be up or down? THC, the chemical in marijuana that makes you stoned, is a depressant. Nicotine however, is a strong stimulant. I say don't smoke either one. Marijuana has lots more tar, but cigarettes will cause hypertention because you are choking your body's oxygen supply while causing your heart rate to speed up. Why would anyone do this? You can take either drug without smoking.

Do not want sound like smart ***, but weigh it out. smoke cigarettes and pot together/ Need to choose. Tobacco is just as addictive as to one that shoots up. smoke 1 joint is an equivalant to a pack of camels. Start a exercise program and you will see that you have no need to inhale nicotine. Nicotine is not only a addictive legal drug it is a oral addiction. I know , I still battle with nicotine more than THC.

Both are bad for you, both are addictive, BUT one marijuana ciggarette is like smoking several regular ciggarettes, and the "joint" is not filtered, while many of the other answers here are contradictory, you can become addicted to marijuana, but it's usually not smoked as often as a regular cigarette.

People who smoke marijuana get to think they are so right like religious fanatics and you cannot reason with them. It makes them really obnoxious and they should not be allowed in public.
Tobacco smokers are just a nuisance, because they throw their butts all around and I end up having to clean up after them.
I don't care about their health because they will both get their due.
Pot smokers because someone will get tired of their crap and kill them.
Cigarette smokers because they will die from cancer, heart trouble, or emphysema

yeah because marijuana is not a controlled drug so you never know how much substance is in it. that is why its illegal and cigarettes aren't illegal because they have a certain amount of nicotine
