or is it just a gimmick? i have heard two sides.

how about the foods that are sold that say "only 1 net carb?" can you believe it?

I was in the hospital recently and the dietician there said that unless there's five grams of fiber or more, don't even consider the "net carbs" thing. You can subtract sugar alcohols from total carbs, though.

Subtract fiber and you have net carbs. It works for me on a low carb diet and also I am diabetic.

My daughters Dr. told me not to follow net carbs. She told me to take carbs - fiber - half of the sugar alcohol. but i would talk to a Dr.

Yeah they are only minimilly absorbed and have a minimal impact on insulin level.

Love those fibers and sugar alchols.

i deduct fiber-only if it is 4 grams or more and i take the sugar alchol and only deduct 1/2

I'm a diabetic and a nurse and count net carbs.
Follow your diabetic diet too.
