I will attest that 90% of people have HPV even though they show no signs or symptoms. This has been recognized as an STV not an STD. IT is a Sexually Transmitted Virus. There is medication on the market for it...........however she needs to go to the gyno and have a pap. The doctor will then be able to tell her what type of HPV she has and if it is Cervical dysplasia (pre-cancerous) she can get it taken care of. However if she does not go just because she is scared it WILL only get worse. And contrary to what you have heard you CAN get it from having protected sex. My doctor told me that HPV can be transmitted even if a condom is used because it is caused by skin contact not fluids.

I know exactly the position that you are in when trying to be there for your friend in this type of situation. My friend too has told me that she has the Hpv virus because she had sex with some guy.... it is a virus that is able to spread to other people when having sex... there are places that she can go to in order to get it checked out like the teen clinics that are everywhere that you can get help and they dont have to tell her parents with her permission unless she is in real danger with her life....also like a good friend should, just be there for her when she needs someone to talk to and keep her in check whenever she starts thinking negatively.... life is so amazing and you should never think negative, always think about the positive things in life cuz there is so much to look forward to.

As much as it isn't a fun thing, if she is under the age of 18, she is going to need to tell her parents...or atleast make sure she gets checked out by a gynocologist and has a pap smear done once a year. HPV is sooooo common. 80% of women have it and live perfectly normal lives. Tell your best friend not to worry, but make sure she sees a doctor once a year.

Ok well HPV is VERY common...she needs to make sure she has safe sex cuz she can spread it very easily. Also,,,,she needs to make regular visits to the gynocologist ( i know...ew gross...but us girls gotta do it) because HPV can cause cervical cancer. MAKE SURE SHE GOES!!!! She does not need to tell her mom and dr's are not allowed to tell her mom because of the patient privacy act. HPV will go away but it can take a couple years for it to go away. Its not as bad as it seems but it is highly contagious thru sexual contact.

Some states a girl can go to the health dept without a parent fot something like this if that is'nt an option she MUST tell her mom this is a very dangerous virus. If she is having sex trust me her mom already suspects or knows .Her mom will help her.I know it's feels embarrassing but at least she isn't having to tell her mom she is pregnant and that would blow over too .You think your mom is going to kill you but this is what they are for to help and guide you through things just like this so tell your friend to please go to her mom now and just tell her and I'm sure this girl will be surprised how pleased her mom will feel knowing she came to her and their bond will grow too.mitzic63@yahoo

take her to the clinic. and her boyfriend as well!!!! they r not allowed to tell anyone its all confidential. they'll prob freeze the warts off. her mum doesn't need to know.
u can clear the warts but there is no cure for the virus. she'll have to think about who she is sleeping with, use protection!!! and most importantly have the courtesy to tell her next partner that she has been infected with it.
don't worry u dont die from it.
speak to the doctor - they'll be able to help you much more then any websites which are all saying different things.

HPV leads to cancer. She has to tell her mom or get treatment from your local health department. You guys can get vaccinated for this disease now and can probably do that at your local health department. Listen, learn something from this! You could die a terrible death from having unprotected sex! Abstain or use condoms!

hpv is spread through sexual intercourse. she can spread it to her partner. there is no cure. she will not die. she will just need to get checked every year by her gyno for early signs of cancer. in some cases, hpv can cause cancer.
