I've gotten cold sores since I was a baby. I recently got a cold sore about 6 days ago. It wasn't on my lip...it was on my chin. Last night me and my guy were kissing and I gave him oral sex. The sore had already scabbed over and basically just a peeling scar, but could I have given it to him? I also take valtrex to keep me from getting coldsores PERIOD. But I'm just really concerned that I could have given it to him. The only reason I had any contact with him in the 1st place is because I figured the sore was already gone and there were no blisters or fluid so we were fine. And it was on my chin not my mouth.

Oral herpes can be transmitted to genital herpes at any time. If you have a cold sore in any stage, this can be passed on to your partner and become genital herpes. Many people do not know this. If this turns into genital herpes for him, it can be passed back to you in the genital form also. This could all happen before either one of you knows what has happened.

I would contact your doctor, and take precautions.

yes. it is possible to spread herpes simplex to your genital area by oral contact. avoid this during your outbreak of oral herpes. in your case would be hard to call. if you really had a scab and no fluid in the pustule then i would say highly unlikely.

I didn't think so. I though HVI - 1 was cold sore and HVI - 2 was genital sore, but according to goaskalice.com they can interchange! I think you better talk to a health professional.
