Does this work in reverse, are there fish and chip shops in china, can you buy traditional black pudding in russia?

You can get fish and chips in the United States, but it's not nearly the same thing. It's a cheap ripoff, as is your version of Chinese food. Nobody else wants to sell black pudding because it's disgusting. Most of English cuisine is not worth sampling, let alone exporting to another country.

Before you get on my case, know that my parents are English immigrants. I've been to England several times to visit family. I know all about English cuisine. It's really gross.

In a sense, yes. But they often take a different form.. either by initial confusion or "improvements" made to suit a particular region. For example, fish and chips in the U.S. tends to get you fish with ...potato chips in many cases. That's not true everywhere (it's a big country..), and some do it properly, etc. The worst culprit, as far as I'm concerned, is what most places in the U.S. try to pass off as 'clotted creme' ...that being said, McDonald's in India have a lot of veggie burgers. Japanese ramen shops serve "curry rice" (which doesn't taste a whole lot like curry). In my experience, especially in the so-called Far East, many, many things are imported, enjoyed, and sometimes adapted. But it is possible to find traditionally prepared stuff, though perhaps under a local name.
Indian dishes tended to integrate into 'everyday' British speech and culture, but ..not as much over here in the U.S. There're a lot more translations when things get imported. 'glutinous rice' .. 'clarified butter' ...

that being said, .. real italian pizza is comparatively tasteless. american style chinese food in india is the best i've ever had =p

..sometimes they're honest improvements. and sometimes, local ingredients are necessary for the proper flavour: Devonshire butter, ..anything made in Brittany, certain types of rice. ..some american bread (can't remember which suddenly..) is a thousand times better in France 'cause it's randomly made with cream instead of plain milk ..yet they still name it the same thing, despite the fact that it's a completely different result, as though mocking us =p

well, in the US there used to be a chain of fish & chip stores. Arthur Treachers' Fish N Chips - they are all closed now, but many bars that advertise as "pubs" here still offer fish & chips on their menus, and one in my area (Welsh restaraunt & pub) offers several dishes that they claim are Brittish or Welsh in origin. I have no idea if they really are, since most Chinese, Italian and Indian food here is not really what they eat in China, Italy or India...

I had Chinese food in Vienna, Austria and Spaghetti with meatballs and yes fish and chips in Germany, Pizza in Paris.....

But British food seems to be limited to Pub-style places, fish n chips, treacle tart etc.... and a few tea-shops, but that the US.

Australia has a lot of middle-eastern places. I love those Kebabs!

In Asia , like Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, there are many western food like the ones you mentioned. Just today, I took my sis for some Fish and Chips. She loves it, I don't like fish. They also have steakhouses here ( Malaysia) and the most famous American food of all , Fast food. So yeah, you can get them in Asia. I think it's because many westerners are migrating more and more these days and you see all these restaurants popping up everywhere.

I have wondered that myself! I am a transplanted Brit, and I miss the diversity. I would kill for a good chippy in the USA!
