Cinnamon regulates glucose, and has a polyphenol compound called MHCP that mimics insulin and activates cell receptor sites.
Here's a little different take on the subject of diabetes--
There are many things you can do to overcome type II diabetes, and improve life as a Type I diabetic. I've been researching alternative medicine, and the amount of help that's available to diabetics is amazing.
Natural remedies are quite effective, and include:
Cinnamon
Bitter Melon
Gymnema Sylvestre
Nopal cactus
American Ginseng
Fenugreek
Chromium picolinate
If you are serious about learning how to use these herbs and not falling victim to diabetes needlessly, I suggest getting a copy of--
"One Son's Quest for the Cause and Cure of Diabetes", ISBN 7890766313
The top information about cinnamon came from this book, page 285.
The author, a doctor, lost his mother to diabetes and spent the next 20 years finding a way to overcome it. My brother was dying of diabetes, and I was just starting to need insulin when we came across this definitive work which was first availale in February 2005. We both lead mostly normal lives now. It's a life saver, and the best money you'll ever spend on the subject.
You might want to check Abe Books, Alibri's, or Amazon.com for a good used copy cheap. I bought mine new, and I think it was about $35. I don't get any money from anybody for telling you this--just want to help, and the techniques in this book is what made the difference for me and mine. Best of luck.

Cinnamon doesn't work FAST enough to provide any significant help for a TYPE 2 Diabetics, and it should NEVER be used for a TYPE 1. ALL such "homeopathic" remedies work too slowly and in too little increments to be useful for some one wh ALREADY HAS diabetes. CInnamon (and sometime Chromium Picolinate) work for someone who has NORMAL blood sugar levels. Cinnamon and such will help regulate blood sugar in normal people. But when you already have diabetes, the difference to too large fo homeopathic remedies to control. With Type 2 diabetes you MUST seek some serious medical help, preferably in the form of an ENDOCRINOLOGIST -- a doctor who specializes in disease like diabetes. All those institute you mention are under control of the USDA -- The United States Department of Agriculture. The same people who tell you is your beef, chicken and pork is of high quality. Their ratings mean NOTHING to the medical world! They may be able to tell that a food is healthy (not dangerous) but they have NO authority over medical claims. Medicine and medical treatments are controlled by the FDA -- The Food and Drug Administration. THOSE are the ratings you want to listen to. But the FDA does not control "natural" products like vitamins and herbal remedies. Therefore, the claims for such products are NOT regulated by the government, and you simply cannot be sure of what you are getting. DO NOT even begin to think that Cinnamon will work for Type 2 Diabetes. It does not. it works as a regulator ONLY for patients with NORMAL blood sugar levels.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/yGuSc
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Yes, this actually is true. There is a Pub Med (medical journal)abstract I posted on this. This has been proven true. Please search Yahoo Answers for my answer relating to Type 2 and cinnamon. You would need to use a high quality sample and a large enough dose.

Cinnamon bark is a natural sweetener that you can put in tea or coa coa without regular sugar and it doesn't spike your need for insulin.
See http://www.glycostory.com/mannalive to see how people whith type 1 and 2 were able to produce their own insulin naturally because they were able to "wake up" the body's natural ability to defy aging and create wellness on a cellular level through what is "missing" in our modern diets.
Instructions: Click on the "stories" tab and look up diabetes.
