The fetus is very suceptible at first- but I just answered another question explaining that I drank before I found out I was pregnant (more than just a drink or two) and my son is perfect. The later the pregnancy moves along, there are actualy windows of times that if you drink, you can jeopardize a particular part of develpment. For example (THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE....THIS STATEMENT I'M MAKING IS NOT TRUE TO MY KNOWLEDGE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THE ACTUAL TIME FRAMES, ETC) So- for axample, if you drank between wk 20 and 23, you could potentially harm thier vision, eyes, etc... My friend works for the state educating people about alcohol and being pregnant- and when she first started and learned this, she sort of explained it. There is absolutely no GOOD TIME to drink during a pregnany- the baby will get the alcohol regardless. Would you give a newborn beer in thier bottle just because their done "baking"??

You have good reason to be worried about her.

A change in a person’s level of consciousness indicates something is wrong in the brain.

There are many conditions that cause a person to “black out”. Having a loss of consciousness can be life threatening if it happens while a person is driving, on stairs, swimming, etc…

Your friend should definitely be seen by a doctor if this is a frequent occurrence.

sounds like a form of epilepsy. breathing disorder causing her to faint. severely anemic.
What ever it is it is not good you need to convince her to go to the doctor for a check up.
Remind her what if she were driving, holding a baby.walking with a knife in her hand. etc.
You must do what you can and be a good friend to get her help/ the reason I said what I did is that this is a on going condition and apparently she has not been to a doctor for you have no idea as to the cause.

Be concerned enough to get her to go to a doctor. You don't want her to blackout somewhere by herself and hurt herself even more. It's not normal for people blacking out.
Could she be pregnant?
