Plain tofu is rather bland, but the great thing about it, is it soaks up whatever you marinate it in, or mix with it.

Here's a fun and easy dessert involving tofu:

Block of firm tofu (i.e. not silken tofu, or very firm tofu)
1/2 cup or 1 cup of melted chocolate chips (or carob for vegan)

Put the tofu in a blender; blend until it's a smooth, pudding-like consistency. Then slowly add in the melted chocolate/carob chips. Pour into individual servings and refrigerate for at least one hour.

It has the consistency of a thick pudding, but the richness of mousse. Enjoy! :)

I don't care for tofurkey... don't like the texture or the stuffing stuff they use.

I thought I hated tofu... till I learned how to use it. :) If you're using it in a cooking recipe (like fried, etc)... make sure you don't use silken tofu unless it specifically calls for it. Nigari tofu and baked tofu have the most texture... so try those ones first. I use the Nigari stuff... so far it's been really good dipped in cornstarch and fried and also grilled on the barbecue. I still dont' use it that much though... I prefer the meat substitutes over it in most cases.

www.allrecipes.com has a good selection in their vegetarian area.

Can't help you with tofu or tofurkey, as I never eat meat substitutes.
But for great ideas and recipes, go to the Vegetarian Society website. See below.

I have been a vegetarian for almost 10 years. Any kind of food you enjoyed, unless for some religious thing, can be altered to your liking. There are some really tasty meat substitutes out there like steak strips and corn dogs(my preference). Just don't look at it as if you can't eat anything..have to try new things.

i'm a vegetarian! i comprehend what you advise. that's complicated to electrify the non-greens. in the journey that your husband could have cheese I especially advise something that good factors it. two times baked potatoes could be great. different innovations for a BBQ must be potato salad, quiche, or possibly a quinoa salad could be a great thought because of the fact it has finished proteins together as nonetheless being vegan. i do no longer advise bringing fake meats, because of the fact besides the certainty that i think of they are scrumptious they have a tendency to weird and wonderful the fewer-accepting people out. i wish that facilitates!
