Oral sex can lead to oral tumors, according to a US study published in the New Scientist. The human papilloma virus (HPV) is an extremely common sexually transmitted infection that has been known to cause cervical cancers. However, studies have suggested it also plays a role in other cancers, including oral cancer. Out of those, 1,670 people had oral cancer, the people with oral cancers containing the HPV16 strain the most commonly seen strain in cervical cancer were three times as likely to report having had oral sex . We have known for some time that there is a small but significant group of people with oral cancer whose disease cannot be blamed on decades of smoking and drinking, because they're too young. In this group there must be another factor, and HPV and oral sex seems to be one likely explanation.

I also read once that there was a link to stomach cancer.

It depends......first off; unprotected oral sex is safer than unprotected anal/vaginal sex.... and unlike what someone said... u can not get the same std's via oral as vaginal sex ...http://www.dph.sf.ca.us/sfcityclinic/stdbasics/stdchart.asp... very useful chart... furthermore dont panic about what people say bout hiv; with some research you will find that oral sex preformed on a person who is HIV+ carries about a 1 in 10,000 risk of acquirring HIV. Much also depends on if you are giving or receiving oral sex.

you can get STD's from oral sex as well as pass on general infections. It is harder to protect yourself from the STD's. With normal sex you can wear a condom for protection. There is less you can do to protect yourself when having oral sex. If you have a cold sore and have oral sex you can pass it on to your partner effectively giving them herpes (a cold sore is a type of herpes). If you chose to have oral sex then i suggest only doing it in a monogamous relationship where both of you have been tested and are clear of STD's. And if either of you have a cold sore then refrain from having oral sex till the cold sore has completely healed.

Oral sex is potentially dangerous for several reasons. You can find some good and decent information and advice on potential dangers in the internet. The best thing though is to know your yourself and your partner and with this abstinence until marriage.

You can pass all of the same STD's/Infections through oral sex that you can through normal intercourse so yes, it is just as dangerous if you're not using protection.
