I've never heard of the book, so I can't be sure. But salt allows your body to retain water, so if you drink salt water you'll be able to absorb more and pee out less. How that would affect bronchospasms, i can't imagine. sorry, it sounds too good to be true.

Yes, I read the book. I also am asthmatic, and drinking plenty of water on a daily basis is one of the best things you can do for the whole body & this disease in particular.
I forgot about the salt part, will have to try it next time I have a problem. If I were you, I would get salt from a health food store & use the Real Salt brand. It is clean, even with a slightly sweet taste, and a real food. The bleached &" anti-caking ingredient added "salt that we get at the grocers is a chemical.
Add the water first, DO NOT cut back on his meds until you can use water to sustain a clearer breathing system. Also stay away from dairy, even without allergies. it is mucus-producing, and as you know, asthmatics produce too much mucus already.
There are also excellent homeopathic remedies for asthma-and I have tried it all, both Rx's and the natural things.
Unless high blood pressure is a problem, licorice root tea is an excellent anti-inflamatory and good tasting ashtma easer.
Post this question under the category of "alternative therapies". There are some excellent professionals who will likely have really good advice for you.
Kudos to you, the best help that I have gotten has been through natural means, a proactive approach like yours is the best way to manage your family's health and really begin to heal.

First thing...don't drink salt water.
This is goes on and on about how wonderful water is for you because a lot of people have problems that could be fixed by water. A lot of people are simply dehydrated. If you are into the whole heath showy thing it is a good buy.
But beware books like that turn normal people crazy.
