I will be 24 tomorrow. My father has high bp, so my parents had a bp thing you put on your finger to measure it. We all play with it, but mine is always way higher than everyone elses. Then we got a wrist thing that reads bp. It is always way higher too. Am I too young?

I am not overweight. I do not add extra salt to anything. My bp has been taken professionally taken, and it was high. I do not smoke. I don't regularly work out, but I do get exercise.

Last BP reading I got professionally a couple days ago, was 153/92. But it has been read higher than that.

finger and wrist things are not very reliable. If it's lower than 125/80 I wouldn't even worry about it. Have someone take your bp for real- you may have some kind of medical problem....lots of things cause hypertension.

I'm not a doctor or anything but no you'r not to young to have high blood pressure. My best friends daughter who is only 6 years old have high blood pressure so you are not too young at all. But you should get to a doctor right away and get on some meds for that because it can kill you and cause lots of problems. Good luck and take care.

You should go to your doctor. For most people high blood pressure is no cause, but at your age, I would insist on a complete checkup, i.e. your kidneys, etc. and try to find the root cause. I would not spend a lot of time worrying about it while they run their tests(as worrying can cause an anxiety disorder), but I would definately go on blood pressure medication if your readings are always over 140/90 no matter what your age is. My mom died of a stroke at an early age from high blood pressure and her cousin died at 30. I have high blood pressure and take my medication. My grandpa took his medication and lived to 100.

you are not to young! but you should see a doctor to make sure you blood pressure is normal. hears what you do. a normal systolic blood pressure for adult men is add 100 to your age up to 150 mm Hg so if your 24 the top number of the blood pressure machine should be in the range of around 124 (normal usually is 100-135) that is caused when the ventricle in the heart contracts and the diastolic the bottom number of the blood pressure is the heart relaxing ranging normally between 60-80. hope this has helped but i recommend that you see a doctor

No, you're not too young. If high blood pressure continues then you should see a Doctor.
It has many causes but let the doctor decide, so you can be appropriated treated.

You eat lots of meat? Dairy? You overweight? You drink coffee with whitener in it? You eat processed foods? You like sweet stuff and donuts and deep-fried whatever? Yes to any of the above and you, at 24, could well have elevated bp. The way to rectify that? Stop with the above bad habits and eat raw, fresh, ripe, organic, fresh fruits and vegetables as the major part of your diet. Exercise. Become the "pioneer" in your family-- the one who changed lifestyle early on and changed your prognosis with it... the one WITHOUT high blood pressure. You up for that?
All the best!

There are no age restrictions on high blood pressure. Please try to avoid salty foods. I think you need the advice of your Dr. & fast. High pressure is nothing to play with especially given your family history.

No, you are never to young to have high blood pressure, but there are things you can do to take care of it such as limiting your salt intake.

You are rarely if ever too young to have high bp, in fact some children and many teens may already have it, depending on diet and exercise of course.
