I am 17 years old and for the past year i have a constant feeling of a lump of mucus in the back of my throat. My throat doesn't hurt and i do not have a runny nose. But i constantly try and clear my throat and it does not go away. I went to the doctor and they looked down my nose and only recommended a saline spray.

Does anyone have any home remedies or tips and when did you start having this problem as it more common for older folks.

thanks

hey,
im 21 and got this right after a sinus infection. it lasted for like a month until i spoke to my doctor about it. he said to use musinex, which is available over the counter. to work, u have to drink alot of water with it, but let me tell u, 2 days later, it was gone.

if it dont go away with that, you might want to get checked for GERD.

I've had post nasal drip with a sinus infection before. My advice is this: first of all if you live in the cooler environment, avoid things like a space heater. Dry heat is terrible for ENT related things. Also, saline spray's are useful, however, I found that using a netty really helped the whole ENT region. It feels really ridiculous when you are using it, but afterwards, it will feel amazing. If you live in a warm area and can go swimming in the ocean, do that, as it will have the same effect. Whatever you do, do not take any over the counter drugs to help. Whatever is being drained needs to get out. If you have really bad allergies, get a persciption for allegra (it's an anti-histamine).

Good luck!

Post nasal drip is a result of allergies. Allergies to whatever is in the air. One result form allergies is sinusitis. You can cure yourself form allergies or post nasal drip but it takes time. Also allergies is a sign of to much toxins in you system and or a low immune system. "That is why it is a common disease for people above 40...the older folks" Some tips here . Drink 8 – 8 ounce glasses of water daily. Avoid sugar and products which sugar as every infection thrives with sugar. Try Oil of Oregano as Oil of Oregano is anti- bacterial, anti- viral, anti- fungal. Take the Oil of Oregano internally and massage around the ear. Feeeeels so good. Use Eucalyptus on her pillow or half an onion to clean the ear. Try to steam with eucalyptus to open up the sinuses. Use super foods to increase your immune system, like walnuts, kefir, blue berries (vegetables and fruit in general). For allergies use lots of Vitamin C like 1000 mg every hour for a child times 4. It seems like you are almost better. Just the tip of the ice berg. Here some more practical tips. Avoid stress and focus on health not on sickness, visualize your self better and do the visualization together in a fun way. When you get in a positive mode you will also be able to find the right solutions much easier.

Sounds like allergies. Saline spray is an easy way to keep your sinuses happy if you're prone to allergies & sinus infections. You always have some drainage coming from your sinuses, otherwise you'd have a miserable sinus headache all the time.

Some people swear avoiding dairy products helps with sinus problems. I've never been able to give them up long enough to find out for myself.

You might try using a neti pot, which is a device used to clean out your nasal passages with saline. It's supposed to really help a LOT with chronic sinus problems, and it may help with your problem as well. You can buy neti pots in most health food or natural medicine stores, or online.

Make sure you are also drinking plenty of fluids!
