Sounds like it could be asthma, a lung infection or some other pulmonary problem. You mother should not take this lightly and you need to see a pulmonologist.

First of all do not worry... It is probable that there is someone else in your P.E class with asthma... if this is the case they'll have an emergency inhaler that they will let you use if the need arises...i think most schools even have one in their first aid kits.

If it is asthma then panicking whilst you cannot breath makes the situation worse...you'll need to try and control the breathing.. concentrate on breathing in and out.... maybe talk to your PE teacher before you begin training.. tell her you have been having problems and that you are going to your doctor to have a peak flow test done to see if it is asthma.. your teacher may then let you take it easier in the game.

Then make an appointment to see your doctor... tell them your symptoms and when they occur.. also be sure to mention the family history.. they will most likely give you a peak flow tester and a chart to fill in.. (this is a tube that you blow into with a reading gauge)... you'll have to breath into it first thing in the morning and last thing at night and mark your results in a chart... you take this chart back to the doctor in 1-2 weeks time and they'll discuss the results.

When the attack occurs is it harder to breath in or breath out? I was told that asthma usually means that the individual actually finds it harder to breath out rather than in. Is the difficulty in breathing accompanied by weezing or coughing?.. this is another indication of an asthma of some kind. Does it only come on after exercise or are there other situations where it occurs? Also do you feel slightly more breathless at night or in the morning? All of these are possible indications of an asthma..alternatively this could just be brought on by the cold weather...but the true diagnosis will come from a peak flow test...

Go to a doctor as soon as you can make the appointment... try to get it across to your mum that this is really affecting you and it is something that you need to do..

My mum still doesn't believe I have it even though my doctors have diagnosed it, but she just lets me get on with it for my own peace of mind.

Good luck and i hope it is sorted soon.

Make your mother take you to the doctor! It sounds like asthma to me. I've known people with asthma - including my mom - and it all sounds like what they go through. If your mother won't take you to the doctor, go to the school nurse right in the middle of one these attacks. Maybe the nurse can convince your mom. Also, with the history of asthma, it makes it more likely. Asthma has been known to skip a generation, so if your mom tells you you can't have it because she doesn't (assuming she doesn't), don't let that stop you. So far as what to do about p.e., take it easy if you can't get out of it. Your teacher has surely seen you wheezing and has got to know you've been having trouble. Why hasn't your teacher sent you to the nurse for this?

Sounds like asthma. How long have you had it? If it is recently, then it might be allergies or infection. Do this.
1.Tell your gym teacher. To make them listen, tell them you are scared and feel like you might pass out and your mom won't take you to a doctor and would hate for your teacher to let you pass out or worse because no one will take you seriously.
2.Tell the nurse at school or the office to check you out so you can bring home a note to your mom to take you to the doctor. You are serious.
3. Tell your mom if you exaggerated about anything before you are sorry, but this is serious! Demand she take you to a doctor and if she doesn't you will tell the teacher and the office that you are having a serious problem and need to see a doctor.

It does sound a lot like asthma (I have it), when it gets bad just sit out for a while, if the teacher gets mad tell them about your breathing problems. Try to convince you parents to take you to the doctor, they have some very good medications now that will help you to be active again. You just need a doctor.

there are many things that could be wrong with you you say u are fit but being thin doesn't mean you are fit, u could have asthma, an upper respiratory infection, and on the more serious side a heart murmur. talk to your parents explain your self again and your concerns. if they still refuse talk to your pe coach/teacher ask to see the nurse. i hope there is nothing seriously wrong and i hope you are not doing it to get out of p.e. because a doctor will figure it out and if it cost your parents hundreds of dollars to find out there is nothing wrong with you, well you get the picture

go to P.E. and tell the coach what happened last time. Try to play the game and if you get short of breath go to the nurse so she can listen to your chest while what sounds like an exercise induced attack is occuring. If you sound wheezy she will call your mom. Sometimes it takes an adult to get parents to listen to their kids

Your symptoms are typical for exercise-induced asthma. You'll probably need to use an inhaler before gym class, and you should do fine. You need to see your doctor for a physical and a prescription.

GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!
trust me, you really should go.it's probably athsma, and you need to ask about it.

as for PE, have a parent or the doctor write a note, untill you have an inhaler, or some other kind of way to help you breathe.

There called "Anxiety Attacks"........and if not treated you could pass out from them!!! I'm on medication for them!!! Just go see a doctor, for it, and ask if you can get medicine for them!! Valume usually helps to keep them maintained....... I used to hardly ever take my medicine for them, and my Anxiety was coming back and when I went back to the doctor , she told me, that if I didn't continue to take them as Prescribed, that they would keep coming back, so I take them as I'm suppose too, now, and I dont get them anymore , either!! Good Luck to you, hun!! Its a scary thing, to have them, its either that or you may have asthma.....either way its best if you got checked for it, you know... take care of yourself, now..... Smile!!!
