Have noticed in my Chinese Wholesale that they look the same but seem to be labelled differently.

Yes , they are different animals. Squid I think you know, but cuttlefish are actually one of the oldest species on the planet, very little changed since the times before land animals. They are a shelled, swimming sea creature closly related to the nautilus.

Unless you really eat alot of dried fish products, you probably won't tell the difference in taste, though.

Cuttlefish have a chalky "bone" plate inside them, squid are just hollow sacks with tentacles. Both, when prepared correctly, are delicious!

They are similar enough in texture that recipes that work for one will usually work for the other!

yes, squid is more chewy when cooked.
