HPV is Human Papilloma Virus. And there are several strains. Some of them never cause symptoms, others cause genital warts, and some even cause cervical cancer. If your doctor said yours will clear up, it's probably been identified as a relatively harmless strain.

Your partner and your baby are probably safe. You may want to put off trying to conceive for a few months just to be on the safe side, but that's entirely your call, since all that's at stake is your peace of mind.

But be sure to stay current with your annual Pap. Having had HPV may increase your risk of cancer, which you would want to catch very early if possible. :)

hpv is a very common std that 80% of women have or have had by the age of 50. it is the the virus that causes abnormal paps, genital warts, and potentially cancer. for many women it does go away on its own, but i have always heard it is contagious, better double check on that one. if your partner has any symptoms, take him to the doctor right away. hpv shouldn't have any effect on your baby. just keep getting tested and follow what your doctor says and hopefully it will go away soon. i also recommend asking your doctor for the hpv vaccine (before/after you get pregnant of course) to prevent you from getting the other types of hpv.

I just saw a commercial on tv about the human paplillomavirus. I hope I spelt that correctly.

is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Human papillomavirus is the name of a group of viruses that includes more than 100 different strains or types. More than 30 of these viruses are sexually transmitted, and they can infect the genital area of men and women including the skin of the penis, vulva (area outside the vagina), or anus, and the linings of the vagina, cervix, or rectum. Most people who become infected with HPV will not have any symptoms and will clear the infection on their own.

Some of these viruses are called "high-risk" types, and may cause abnormal Pap tests. They may also lead to cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, or penis. Others are called "low-risk" types, and they may cause mild Pap test abnormalities or genital warts. Genital warts are single or multiple growths or bumps that appear in the genital area, and sometimes are cauliflower shaped.

Hope this helps

not contagious??? you need a new doctor my dear. it most definitely is contagious, it is an std. it will not hurt your baby. just stay up to date with your pap smears and all the exams they ask you to do and you should be fine
