I have been diabetic for 15 years now and have been in good control. I have been thinking about a tattoo for about a year now, are there any complications with being diabetic and getting a tattoo, thats besidesd the obvious of infections and the such.

I've been a diabetic for 15 years and have 3 tattoos. I've had no trouble with infections or healing, although it probably took me a little longer to heal than it would if I wasn't a diabetic. I don't think you have anything to worry about especially since you say your diabetes is under good control. Good Luck!!!

Don't mess your body up anymore than you need to. Diabetes is hard on your body already, so don't carve it up needlessly for a fashion statement. Tattoos weaken your skin, a living organ.

I can tell you this much, the diabetics that died from tattoo infections and amputations probably won't be posting an answer to your question.

As a guy 'small' and 'cool' are mutually exclusive terms when it comes to tattoos. True story. Bro. However, as you asked, I suggest you go to some crappy place with a ton of flash on the walls and pick something dumb.

your tatoo will probably heal slower than usual. I would talk to your doctor and ask him what he/she thinks are the risks. It's always better to know, so I am glad you are asking. But talk to a doctor. My dad has diabetes and whenever he cuts himself or there is bleeding, it takes a long long long time to stop the bleeding. too much bleeding can be deadly.

No, there are no complications. Just make sure that your blood sugar is normal before going, as you could faint if it's too low.

Your risk for infection is way worse than other people's, so why take a chance on something that has the potential to kill you?
