I think the common missconception that if diabetics eat sugar then they will die is very funny. People have to eat sugar (simple carbs) to live, even diabetics! However, it is MUCH better for diabetics to eat complex carbohydrates (carbs that take more time to break down into simple carbs) so that their insulin can counteract it in a timely manner. +Think of it like this: It is like a roller coaster, insulin makes you go down and sugar makes you go up if you are up too much and too often then over the years you can get heartattacks, lose legs and eyesight, require kidney transplant and many other bad things. If you go too low then you hit ground and can DIE very quickly or cause brain damage.
HIGH BLOOD SUGAR DOES NOT CAUSE DIABETIC SHOCK/COMA -except in VERY extreme cases for coma.
The person would have high blood sugar, pee a-lot, feel miserable, and probably feel tired too -until they get their blood sugar in control. If they do not take insulin it may take them a max of a couple days. Do this too many times and something bad might happen but just once will probably not hurt them that bad. However, there are some very "fragile" diabetics out there that react very strong to anything and could conceivably faint or something bad because of redickulously high blood sugar.
It really depends on the patient.

Depends on what type you have type 1 or2 and if you have a blood sugar that easily goes up or down . I have type 2 diabetes and can drink sodas and eat candy in moderation I take pills and am on insulin and eat candy cookies and drink sodas without some sugar in your system your liver will start producing sugar then you will be in deeeeeeeep CACA. Remember your science in school STARCH turns to sugar. I have more of a problem with dumplings, rice potatoes than cookies or sodas. If you are the diabetic talk to your Doctor

Sheez, can you believe the first three bozo answers? Going into diabetic shock and coma from a lousy can of Coke. Give me a frikkin' break!
However, once again it shows the widespread misconceptions out there. These bozo Answers reactions are a small statistical sample of the larger overall population that is more than likely less educated, since it takes some degree of intelligence to create an avatar.
50g of sugar will raise an adult T1 DB approximately 75 to 100 mg/dl. This is a ballpark figure.
Over some time interval, this bg increase will be greatly influenced by the amount and type of insulin present and time since injected. Physical activity will also have an influence.

My mom have done so and she's got uncontrollable type 2 diabetes. On top of that she has eaten giant bowls of white rice and everything she's not suppose to have and all it does is raise her blood sugar way up there. Some people are simply lucky when it comes to diabetes I guess and I wouldn't suggest that anyone try it to see what would happen. While one might get away with it another might go into a comma and die.

"Sugar Pie" must be the only doctor in the US NOT employed by the Sugar Industry to argue that sugar abuse is NOT a cause of diabetes. Oh, what's that you say, she's NOT a doctor after all, well then she's a complete idiot and is passing out VERY incorrect and harmful information. If you read up on this subject you will find that white refined sugar is now considered in most medical circles to be far more than simply dangerous to health. Many experts actually classify it as a "poison." It not only is a leading cause of hypoglycemia and diabetes, but a leading cause of heart disease, cancer, blocked arteries, strokes, and much more. Sodas (pop) are one of the very worst things you can drink and are the LEADING cause in America of obesity! For a start you should read:
