Hungarian or Magyar cuisine is the cuisine characteristic to Hungary and the Magyars.
Hungarian food is often spicy, using paprika, black pepper and onions. Potatoes are also commonly used in many dishes. Hungarians are passionate about their soups, desserts and stuffed pancakes, with fierce rivalries between regional variations of the same dish, e.g. the fish soups cooked differently on the banks of Hungary's two main rivers.
[edit] Hungarian meals
In Hungary, breakfast may consist of fresh bread , fruit, vegetables, or cereal. Lunch is the major meal of the day, with several courses: soup is followed by a main dish including meat, which precedes a dessert. Fruit may follow. Dinner is a far less significant meal than lunch. It may be similar to breakfast, or comparable to an American lunch of sandwiches. Dinner is light, such as bread and vegetables, or perhaps a bowl of soup, and usually consists of only one course

they eat as most other Europeans but they have authentic cookings and ingredients of course
Hungarians sausages are good. They tend to add Hungarian Paprika and Vegeta seasonings in cookings. They also like to eat rabbits.
Hungarian pastry are so rich and well known. To name some there is Kalacs (sweet bread with poppyseeds or chestnut or walnut fillings), Beigli (sweet rolls served for Xmas mostly), Dobos Torta (the famous layers cake), Francia Kremes (layers of cream, this is very good), etc
They love levesek (soup) as well. Many kinds of soups in Hungarian cookings such as Gombaleves (mushroom soup), Halaszle (fish soup, this is served in Xmas time as well), Almaleves (apple soup either warm or cold), etc
They like to eat Burgonya (potato), Rizs (rice) and Galuska (noodle). Nokedli is a well known noodle to be served with Chicken Paprika (Csirke Paprika).
Most also very fond of toltott malac ujfalusi modra (stuffed suckling pig Ujfalu sytle, with a mix of spiced mince meat, liver, egg, and bread)
And they drink Bor (wine) and Sor (beer) a lot :P

Hungarian food... sorry couldn't resist!
the cuisine is similar to other eastern European foods, with borscht, blinis etc... they tend to use a nice smoked paprika in everything. a dish that is particular to that country is goulash - a hearty meat stew. try searching goulash on www.allrecipies.com. or, try searching Hungarian Food in Yahoo Food and see what they have to say about it.
bon appetit!

dunno, I lived in Hungary for 8 years and I never, ever heard of anyone eating rabbits! Maybe it's something they do out in the countryside? in the poorer areas? the other dishes you mentioned all sound typical, though.
