Ended up at one the other day. Hrmph. I'm a vegetarian; looked at the menu and asked if they could make me a chicken quesadilla with no chicken.

"Sure!"

I got a plate with a quesadilla with chicken spilling out the sides.

Er...

It went back. She came back. "The quesadillas are already made..."

I can't think of a way to assemble quesadillas well ahead of time in another facility and have them come out nicely. Ick.

Is all the food that bad, or are the chicken and ribs decently done, and it's just the rest of the menu that's junk?

I once worked at a place that sometimes fed us Swiss Chalet for lunch. Everyone but me loved it. I'm a vegetarian.

Sometimes I brought my own lunch. Or sometimes I ate a combination of their bland/bizarre sides. Like Cajun pierogies. Or corn, or rice, or potatoes.

If you're dining in, sometimes they're linked with a Harveys, and you can grab a veggie burger.

Swiss Chalet Takeout Menu

Yes, Swiss Chalet is definitley fast food - maybe just a healthier version. You do have to be careful what you order - those mashed potatoes in the baggies are true! I used to work there so I know firsthand! You can get some decent items but somethings you might think are healthy choices are actually laden with fat. And I have to admit, even though I was a great waitress :) the service and food can still not be the greatest. The idea is to get customers in and out as fast as possible, that is why there are rarely ever line-ups at the door. I guess to get the fast service they are compromising on good quality.

I think she meant to say that the chicken is already cook with the spices and they would have a difficult time removing the chicken from the quesadillas.

I always feel sorry for vegetarians that want things changed.

After working in a resturant and my mother being a waitress most of her life (and owned a resturant too)....I understand how difficult it is to please all the customers.

You should call ahead and inquire about "meatless meals"....if they have it on the menu, you're home free!!

Don't go into a resturant and expect them to change the menu just for you....they have alot on their plate already...no pun intented.

while ordering take out I noticed that their mashed potatoes come in little baggies that they throw in to the microwave...both for take out and eat in but then again Swiss Chalet is a "fast food" establishment. even when you eat in the meal is served within 5 -10 min

Not one of my favourite places to eat, but if I had to order anything there the ribs are probably the best thing on their menu.

well, it is a chicken restaurant, so any vegetarian dishes would be salad or salad.

The chicken is good sometimes, but I've also had some bad meals as well.

The ribs? CRAP
