I am pregnant and so of course you get alot of bloodwork.

The nurse asked me if I would also like an HIV test too.

Of course I said yes, but now I'm all scared and freaked out.

I am married and I haven't been with many people my whole life, but I am still on pins and needles.

Is everyone always so scared when they do this?

It's always scary taking test like that. Relax if u haven't slept with a partner that had HIV ur fine. The only way to spread HIV is through blood or other bodily fluids!! Not by kissing unless u had a cut in ur mouth and his was bleeding. The safest way to have sex is to be CAREFUL. If u use a condom it is 99% sure u can't get anything I should know. My husband has HIV and we have been married for 2 and a half yrs, and I still am clean and healthy.

I can relate. I just took my first HIV test done. They said it would take about 10 days to get the results, that was 4 very long days ago. I too haven't had been partners but I'm still very nervous.

Don't stress too much about it. It is good that you have a family to support you.

Sexually active people, the doctor told me, should get a HIV test once a year.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

It's a scary thing to think about and it's understandable to be apprehensive about the issue. Look at it this way, once you know the truth you can take it from there. Relax for the babys\'s sake. There's nothing you can do until the results come in. Why ruin a good day when there's nothing you can do until you know for sure? Enjoy your pregnancy.

BTW, your partner should also be tested.

I'm sure it would be scary to get tested, but If you have been with this person who you are married to for a long time, and both have had safe sex, and neither one of you have any symptoms, then you are probably fine.

Yes. I think that everyone is afraid of the big HIV AIDS test. That is completely natural.

I was so scared I said no to the test. I kinda freaked about it. Then I ended up having it done later. It is unnerving.

Yes...when I was pregnant I was so nervous. But after you find out everything is fine you are more relaxed. It is better to find out early then to late. Good Luck!

Yeah, it's a scary thought. Don't worry too much - it sounds like you are low-risk. Getting all tense really isn't good for the baby.

I was scared to and I had no reason to be at all. It made me feel so much better to know. You will be fine. Try not to think about it.
