I quit smoking after i realized that it was affecting my breathing and energy. I work in construction, so that simply wouldn't do for me. I truly believe in stopping cold turkey. put them down once and for all. that is what i did. the craving is tough, but the real problem is the "habit" of doing it. when you realize you are not smoking, you want to. but try gum or ice. do not even sneak one little puff, cuz if you do, your mouth and taste buds will start the cravings all over again. just resolve to stay with the plan and never take another puff. the cravings hung in there for about 2 weeks i would say. and that's really not that bad. the coughing and yellow flem stayed with me about 2 years after i quit. now i can breathe really deep and it doesn't hurt anymore and i have alot more energy. expect to really hate the smell of cigarettes after you quit, cuz you will not be able to stand it after quitting. it burns your throat and makes it very hard to breathe. i am so glad i quit, and i have never looked back. just put em down and never even thing about taking even one puff ever again. its not that hard.

People told me that when I quit I would smell better and taste better and therefore get fat because I would eat more.
However I quit 23 days ago, and I have not had any of these symptoms.
In fact, I am eating less now than I did before, and my jeans are starting to get a little baggy.
One of the reasons for this may be that I drink a glass of water whenever I want a ciggy, and that fills up my stomache. Not entirely sure.
I did have cravings (and this is after smoking for 10 years, not too too long, but long enough!), and started drinking water and doing Sudoku puzzles to keep me occupied until the cravings were over. It is hard when your whole family smokes and continues to do it around you, but I am doing well!
23 days in I still have cravings, but the jitters are gone (thank god), and the cravings are less intense and pass more quickly. Also, I'm screamed at everyone in my sight for the first two weeks. I was not a happy camper. Now I am back to being me. A healthier, heavier walleted me.

A yr ago I quit for 6 months.It was sooo hard.I did feel better.I could breath alot better and just overall I felt great.Then I started smoking again and have to quit all over again.

your appetite increases, u either get more nervous wanted one, or u get all depressed cause u dont have any.
Or u just forget about smoking and just chew gum.
Your body should get healthier fast perhaps.
Most folks that quit say they feel better whether they do or not.

I was born with brain tumour so i was having alot of seizures but when i quit smoking the seizures are practicly gone.

My sense of smell and sense of taste greatly improved. I could breathe easier. I quit hacking up lung butter each morning.

it became healthier especially after i had heart surgery because smoking almost killed me SO EVERYONE THAT SMOKES STOP

I got what is called "quitter's flu" - chills, headache, nausea, sleepiness, and fever. It passed after a few days.
