I tested my nephew who has type 2 diabetes. He ask me to test myself and I did. It read 201. As far as I know, I don't have diabetes. Also, I have not eaten in 14 hours.

Is this something to be worried about?

See a doctor if you're concerned. High blood sugar can be a serious health problem. You don't have to have symptoms of diabetes to have insulin problems that lead to diabetes.

I wouldn't take it lightly. If you had not eaten in 14 hours, or drank anything with carbs in it, you should not have had a result of that height. I am a diabetic myself and if you just brush off high glucose (blood sugar) numbers, it can send you into the hospital. I was in the ICU for 5 days once with Ketoasidosis. That is what happens when your glucose levels are so high for so long and your body goes on trying to save your organs. I think that you should go and see a doctor and they can give you some medicine. If you are a type two, there is a possibility that you can eventually get rid of it like my dad did. I wish you the best in this situation.

Please get yourself tested by a doctor. Fasting blood sugar levels should be between 80 to 100 and testing two hours after eating a normal reading would be around 140 so your 201 level is something to be concerned about. Many times there are no symptoms of diabetes until well after the disease is already present so it is very possible to have the disease and not know it. Testing requires several blood samples drawn over a three to four hour period of time but could save you many complications if caught early enough.

I'd say you have a good shot at type 2 diabetes if your fasting blood sugar is over 200. Get it checked professionally. Even if it checks out ok, it would still be a good idea to have it checked periodically, especially if it runs in your family. I don't have diabetes myself (yet), but because it is very common on both sides of my family, I keep a watch on it.

You need to go to a doctor or hospital right now. If 201 is your fasting rate. YES, you do have diabetes, and this disease will destroy your body bit by bit if you don't get it under control.

Please do NOT listen to those people that say 200 is no big deal. PLEASE.

Yes, my husband was diagnosed today and his level was only 207....the normal should be between 60 - 100 before eating. I would say get an appointment to your family doctor. It might be something you can correct with change of diet and exercise. Good Luck.

yes you should be concerned. 201 is way too high for someone without diabetes.

It's always good to get those things checked out. Keep on top of anything that serious. The worst thing that could happen is that you waste a trip to the doctor's. That would be worth knowing for sure.

One hi sugar is reason for concern.
Your doctor will do a HA1c blood test to determine your sugar levels over that past few months.
If it is hi, please seek out the help of an endocrinologist.I know it's scary but knowledge is power, so seek out the appropriate help.

Good luck.
