It will be my two-year anniversay as a vegitarian in Febuary. Before when I first told my doctor I was a vegitarian, she expressed concern and suggested I eat at least turkey or chicken, etc. I found no support there and my mom's support is wavering. Any how, I just went to go to the doctor last week and I had bloodwork done, yadda. The doctor said my blood levels or something were low and I needed more portein. She asked if I ate meat and I said "No, I don't but I get vegitaraian recipes and I make sure I get proper nutrition. So she calls my mom into the room and I had to leave but I could hear their conversation. She wanted my mom to start feeding me meat or else she was worried about my health. My mom went grocery shopping last night and she didn't get my vegiatarin food stuff I depend on for protein. Instead it was like meat stuff. I always made sure I ate enough of the food levels I needed. What could I say to my mom? No anniverasy for me. I despise meat!

Your topic is a bit difficult to understand.
The most likely problem is iron. Since you're vegetarian and not vegan I assume you drink milk and eat cheese. This combats with your body's ability to assimilate iron. You become iron deficient.
I have a friend who is diagnosed anemic. This is clinical iron deficiency. Her doctor has repeatedly recommended she eat at least one hamburger a week "to get proper iron." She goes in for blood transfusions once a month. Yet she's getting worse rather than better. Why?
It is a myth that meat is a good source of iron.
Studies show that most children and teens consume too much dairy and become iron deficient. The casein they put in cheese makes it worse as far as causing iron deficiencies.
See the last link for good sources of veggie iron.

As long as you do not have an underlying medical condition which would explain the unusual blood test results, a vegetarian diet is perfectly healthy provided that as you say, you are eating a balanced diet. Have they discounted an actual medical problem?
You are entirely entitled to your beliefs about what you do and don't eat - you need to stand up for those beliefs and make it clear that you do not wish to have any part in the cruelty to animals that eating meat entails.
Have a really good look at the Vegetarian Society official website, and make sure you mum looks at it to.
Ask your mum if she is prepared to arrange for you to see a nutritionist/dietician instead of a doctor. If she is, ensure that the dietician understands that you are absolutely adamant that you will not eat meat or fish and that you just want them to give you guidelines on how to stay completely balanced on a vegetarian diet.
I fear that so many would-be vegetarians are frightened off their desired course of action, because of the generally ill-founded fears of parents and doctors.
All I can say is - stick to your principles. If you do not want to eat meat, don't eat it. If your mum insists on dishing it up on your plate, leave it. Scrape every last morsel to one side and only eat the parts of the meal that do not have meat on them. If you keep doing this, she will hopefully eventually understand that you are serious.
But most of all, I must stress that you need to know in your own mind exactly why it is that you want to be vegetarian, and be prepared to state your case intelligently and calmly. Read up on your subject, get recipe ideas. You are making a mature decision, so ensure that you can remain mature when trying to explain it to someone who doesn't understand your motives.
Good luck.

I have a few friends that are vegan- there are ways to get everything you need by means of vitamins, supplements, or just by what fruits and veggies you choose. For example there are high amounts of Iron in red meat- but you can also find high amounts of Iron in spinach and kale- usually when I donate blood, the next meal I eat contains steak and spinach- it boosts the production of red blood cells- getting me back to normal quickly- just a thought

I am the opposite as you the only veggies I eat are green beans and potatoes. I am a meat and potatoes guy and that's all I eat. Never eat any fruit the last time I was in the doctors office was 2 years ago for mono but even a healthy person can get that. I suggest you just forget about what your eating and try eating a nice red juicy steak, its good for you and you'll learn to like it. The doctor is right.
