Of course it is not wrong. :)
I take it you and your friends are pretty young. I've found as I get older, people are more interested in the differences of others and actually want to know about my lifestyle in non-judging conversation.
However, I do run across people who chose to be snotty and condescending.. unfortunately those people are my family members, and the time is usually during Thanksgiving. Sometimes it makes me sad, but I worked the back-channels of my mom and grandma to get annoying family members to leave me alone. :)
Anyway, it is simply ignorance that causes people to treat you that way. Ignorance isn't a bad thing, it just means that they do not have knowledge on the subject. People often fear and/or attack things that are different than themselves. By not eating meat, you are saying (in their insecure eyes) that their lives are wrong and they lead immoral lifestyles. Soooo, they mock you to feel better about themselves.
Don't worry, either they will grow up and get over it; or, as you grow up, you are going to find yourself choosing wiser and more sincere friends. That is what I did.

I really liked the answer where someone has read a report of TWO(!) pregnant women whose babies suffered through a lack of B12. How ridiculous! Two women out of how many???? You can get B12 from marmite and lots of other great vegetarian things. Maybe they just didn't know how to do things right! You can get all the essential amino acids without meat, you just have to get the right combination of foods in your diet. How dare you make people feel that they could harm their baby if they don't eat meat?
Anyway, in answer to the question, I don't think you are wrong. As long as you eat healthily, it is fine. Some people don't agree, so they eat whatever they prefer (i.e. meat). I think when you are young being vegetarian is sometimes more difficult, particularly in school. I teach at a school where there is very little healthy and appetising looking veggie food available.
Why don't they accept you?? Do they cook all your meals or something???? Why not make them a veggie meal. I did this for my dad once and he was really impressed. He hasn't made any negative comments about vegetarians since!(well in my hearing anyway)

In today's society it's not even odd anymore to be a vegetarian. Some people just don't like to eat things tat were once alive. Like when I stayed on a farm for about a week last year. The only thing I could think about was the fact that about 4 hours ago this same chicken was eating corn out of my hand, now half of it's on my plate. And I didn't eat for the rest of the time there. I didn't feel any different, nor did I act differently. And you friends aren't finding it hard to accept, it's just that they find it hard to believe.

Are you the type who cares about wrongful killing of lives? (Why animals/fishes struggles and humans struggles - when people put a knife/chopper on their throat?)
You already have this noble instinct that all life forms in this world want to survive...
If I am a fish or any animals, and you are going to cut my throat, I would beg NOT (or struggle my life all the way out to free myself)..
So what is right being a all-beings EATER??? No difference from a murderer.......
You already found the answer - to become a lifeform loving saint and not to consume other lifeforms and to be life-vegetarian.

your friends are stupid. being a vegetarian is a hundred-million times better than eating meat. that person who said humans are made for eating meat is wrong. it has been scientifically proven that our teeth are most like a cows. who are of course vegetarians and meat can only be digested in a humans stomach by rotting for a few days. and if you are an O blood-type and everyone says: "O is a meat eating diet!" dont listen to them. I'm an O blood-type and used to be a total carnivore. I've been a vegetarian for 2 years and have never felt healhier, not to mention all the weight ive lost. maybe your friends dont respect you enough to understand your choices. you dont have to agree with them. and they dont have to agree with you. maybe you should invite them over for dinner and only serve vegetarian courses, to help them understand that being vegetarian is not bad at all. you could show them all the unfair practices animals go through in order to become meat.

Well, I dont think its wrong to be a vegetarian, its good that you care about animals enough to not eat them.Just make out to everyone that your'e a charming, cute guy who's a little odd that only eats veggies. But in some religions, they prefer to eat meat too, because they say God gave us animals so we can be full and well.. i don't know.

No, it is not wrong. You have the right to chose if you want to eat meat or not. If you are a veggie for health reasons, tell them " I just feel better when I eat this way." If they give you a hard time, just ask " So you don't want me to feel good?" If you are a veggie for moral reasons, "I wouldn't tell you what moral choices to make in your life. Please don't tell me what is right for me. I have the right to do what I feel is proper for me, you do what is proper for you." Unless , of course, you friends have a problem because you preach at them to stop eating meat. Then the problem may not be the fact that you are a veggie, but that you are trying to chose for them. I eat meat, but respect your right not to, and they should too. Tell them "Love me, love my tofu!" If they are true friends, they will respect you and your choices.

be proud of what you are.. being a vegie is not easy. I tried and only manged to be one for about an year.
there was an article on the metro saying that according to some research, people who chose to be Veg by instinct are more intelligent.
my experience about both are that being a veg made me feel much better (physically and mentally) non veg food tastes different but that's all.
do what makes you feel good. your the best judge of what's good for you. don't let others decide that

Well i hate the idea of just killing helpless animals so people can feed on them. I too don't eat any meat, but if there came a time where i needed it to survive then i would eat it but we don't live like that and we don't need it. If your freinds are your true friends then they won't care what you eat. If they can't accept who you are then its time you get some new friends.

I can't say that it is wrong, nor can anyone else. One could say that it may not be the healthiest lifestyle. That depends on how far you take it. I'm not entirely edjucated in the veggie lifestyle nor do I care to be. How your friends find it hard to accept. I don't get it. They should just be happy that they are not(vegetarian) and get over it.
