NEVER had this happen before. Wrapped up leftover enchilada dish with a piece of aluminum foil and put it in the refrigerator. When we brought it out today to serve, the aluminum foil had actually disolved right into the entree' itself where it was touching the top! So crazy! What is this all about??

Tomatoe sauce, which enchiladas have , or something very simmilar to it, are made of highly acitic tomatoes. Tomatoes will eat thru aluminum foil in no time flat. Try taking some crushed tomatoes and putting them in aluminum foil and watch the same thing happen.

The acidic quality of the tomato sauce in many mexican entrees can react with the foil. It is best to cover with plastic wrap and then foil if still needed.

Aluminum foil has never been cleared or tested to use as wrapper or to cook foods.
