...are you taking any medication that has caused you to lose your hair? I take Valtrex, 500 mg. twice daily, suppressive therapy. My hair falls out a lot and I was also wondering if lost hair due to medication will grow back in?

Yes and my hair has grown back in slowly. After not taking it for a while then I have another outbreak and I go to One tablet a day. and off and then on but I'm not sexually active. So I don't have to worry about giving it to no one else. I wish some one would have been as thoughtful to me 16 years ago.

Im a nursing student, and i honestly have NEVER heard of herpes meds having that side effect. I looked in My medical dictionary as well and saw nothing on that side effect. My guess is that it may actually be something else.
I'm with the other nurse, go to the doctor and tell him or her because I dont think the meds is the issue

Hair loss isn't associated with the use of Valtrex. Look to something else for the cause.

Ask your Dr.,hair lose can be from your kidneys.That is the first thing my Dr.asked me about when I was going through treatment for reoccurring kidney infections.

You need to talk to your Dr about this you may ned to change your meds.
