I've had my doubts about the goodness of cow's milk over the years, but after reading these articles, very little doubt remains. Especially after reading the first article:

I'm with you 100%.

There are only two reasons which I've found to support humans drinking cow's milk. We have grown up hearing that it's good for us and we've grown accustomed to the taste and texture. There is absolutely no nutrition that can not be obtained elsewhere, minus the negatives. Calcium seems to be the major claim for milk. It can be found elsewhere in green vegetables, almonds, and many other sources. Where do you think the cows obtain the calcium to put into the milk? Where do other larger animals (elephants, horses, deer, whales, etc) get calcium? Why we continue to drink cow's milk laced with growth hormones, antibiotics, and who knows what else is beyond me.

Since I've given up drinking milk about 5 years ago my health has greatly improved. I suffer fewer allergy problems, asthma and breathing problems are greatly reduced, I'm sleeping better, and I have more energy.

PCRM has a good website as well.

Do you know humans are the only animal that drinks milk past infancy.?

Dairy is a good source for calcium and protein, but you can get that through meats and vegetables. Dairy is high in fat, can raise cholesterol, and causes constipation. Yet the USDA says we need several servings a day. No I do not think that milk/dairy is good for you.

That being said, I certainly eat cheese on my pizza, and have a tall cold glass of milk with when I cheat and have something sweet, however I'm not under any delusion that I am consuming something good for me.

Do you know how milk is treated after it leaves the dairy farm? They do heat it, and they add water, food coloring, sugar, vitamins, minerals, and other things to keep the flavor and coloring the same for their own brand. I know of some babies, that couldn't drink formula, but could drink regular cows milk before it was pasturised and they thrived on it.
