I took a STD and HIV test in October 2006. I never went back for the results because I was told by the head nurse (who calls people back to tell them they have an STD or HIV) that if your test results come back with anything positive they will call you. She also added that if you are clean you will not recieve a phone call. After she left the room another nurse told me I needed to come back to get the results. The test results usually come in within three to seven days. Well I never got a call back and so three weeks later I called them, but missed their phone call and never got around to calling them back. It's almost Feb. 2007 am I safe to assume that I'm clean?

Also in December of 2006 I went to the E.R. and got a pelvic and vaginal exam and was told I didn't have any STD's by the doctor, but I did have vaginitis. Would the clinic still have my results if I even called back?

I'm not trying to be irresponsible it's just nerve racking. I have no reason to believe I have anything since the person I was with didn't have any STDs and we wore condoms. I was just doing the test as a precaution. I haven't even had sex since June 2006.

you are clean. If you had anything and did not receive your results either by not calling or returning to the office the health department would have left a notice on your door. They have to make sure there is no way that you can say that you were not notified in the case of an legal issue.

I would go get my results, ideally they should try to contact you but doctors offices are busy places. To be safe go find out for sure, you will sleep better in the end, and if the results are not what you hoped for at least you can get treatment and be aware so that you will not spread anything you may have. Good luck lady!

When relying on other people to do their jobs, I never give them the benefit of the doubt. There are way too many incompetent people in this world.

Call and make sure, odds are high that you are clean, but you never know.

Good luck.

You need to do a new batch of tests, a lot would've changed by then, you are being irresponsible; shame on you.

1st of all they won't tell you by phone due to privacy acts. 2nd, they never told you to assume you're clean if you don't hear from them.

Go in and get your results!!!!!! Be responsible!!!

Absolutely not!
Go back and get your results.
It is best if you truly know. Nobody will call you neg. or pos.

yes, because if you weren't it would be their number one agenda to get in contact concerning your health. I didn't get a call back last year nor this year.
