Its really bad a few weeks ago he broke out with this insane rash. When he was taken to the doctor, I was told that it was because of his asthma. He is more vulnerable to allergies then most because of his asthma. What does that mean for me working... Do I have to stay home with him. He is already on 3 different types of medication. He is only two years old. If so can help? what agency?

I got asthma when involved in a fire at work. I take 5 prescriptions a day. That's normal. Your son will need to take his meds and you will have to help him with that until he's older and can administer them to himself.

One of his meds might be the cherry chewable singulair. It's approved as asthma preventative and as a help against allergies for some people.

Pull up carpeting and make sure you wash and change his bedding at least once a week. An allergist will be able to tell you his triggers. I was surprised to find I was allergis to far less than I thought but my dust mite allergy is severe! If he's allergic to mold, you'll need to make sure the bathroom gets scrubbed very well once a week and use some off-brand or Lysol spray in between to cut down on mold.

Asthma is a major thing these days and you can get a lot of help from your pharmacist, too. Ask the professionals and get your son tested for all that you can (regarding breathing levels and allergies).
Best wishes...also, when he's able to, getting exercise *is* a good thing to build up his pulmonary strength.

There is no reason you should have to stay home with your son. Most daycare will give medication as long as it is accompanied by a doctors note and clear instructions. Ask your daycare what their rules are. Your Son is not contagiousand there is no reason he should be treated like he is. Skin problems go hand and hand with asthma (usually eczema). The best thing I have found for this is Cotisone cream and Eucerin. I have lived with asthma and skin issues since I was 5 (now 33). There is no reason you and your son can't have a normal life, Asthma is very controllable. Your son will go through some bad spells, but then he will bounce back and be on the go again.

One thing I've learned is allergies and asthma are directly linked to each other, he doesn't have allergies because of his asthma, it's the other way around, there's something giving him that reaction and it could be anything from a pet to the trees in your area. Take him to an allergy and lung specialist and find out what he's allergic to, once you control that, the asthma won't be as harsh, if you get it done now it'll be easier to deal with later. My sister had horrible asthma and my mother had a skin test done and now she gets allergy shots on a weekly basis, as a result, her asthma is much more manageable, mine wasn't as severe but I'm also on a daily allergy medication (Allegra) and it has made a big difference.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

Many asthmatic symptoms can be regulated through diet. Check out the website for great plains laboratories....call the 1-800 number and they'll send you more information -- with no obligations whatsoever. Then if you like what you read, you can find a nutritionist in your area that will work with the ideas from the program and help you and your son. I know some people think that it's far fetched, but my cousin's daughter is having great success with her moderated diet. She was 2 when she started, and for the past year has thrived. Just something to check out. Good luck!

I would have him verified for allergies through a professional to see if it is the canine. Many humans's bronchial asthma attacks are induced via allergens, so if he is relatively allergic to dogs, then you have determined the cause for his current asthma assaults. Except then, try to maintain the canine external always, and deep smooth the condo. Dander from the canine floats in every single place, so just vacuuming is not sufficient. Hope he's feeling better soon!

my daughter has asthma..she broke out into a rash because of the antibiotic...penicillin. My middle boy who's was about 19 months old at that time...has severe asthma and on like 7 kinds of medicine,a neblizer at home and he never broke out into a rash . he is 15 yrs old. but sometimes they grow out of it.he hasn't it. but he is allergic to everything...it effect his asthma. Get another opinion on that rash and asthma. No you do not have stay home with him as long as the daycare/babysitter understands what to do when he is having an asthma attack.

My daughter is 3 and has asthma. Her doctor put her on Singulair and she has not had any problems with breathing since. No rashes or anything. You might talk to your doctor about it and it might even eliminate some of the other medications. Good Luck!

allergies cause asthma, not the other way around. talk to your doctor about these questions, talk to a nurse. Many health insurances have nurses that just answer questions about chronic conditions. Your son doesn't have a disability, just a condition that is treatable. You shouldn't have to stay home with him
