I have a family history of diabetes and no matter what I have tried, therapy, diet regualtion, etc. I have little self control for extended periods of time. I work out everyday which helps but i'm still worried of my habbits.

This is a great question! I feel the same way some times. There are lots of sugar free candies that taste pretty much like the regular ones. My favorites are Reese's and Russell Stover chocolates! Fruit is good too, but it also raises blood sugar. The sugar free section at the grocery store is getting bigger all the time. It helps me A LOT! Good luck!

I don't have any craving for sugar, so it's a non-issue with me. Secondly what makes you think sugar causes diabetes? It doesn't. What causes (type 2) diabetes is:
1. Genetic predisposition
2. Lousy diet
3. Lack of exercise
4. Being overweight

Further, my mom became diabetic while I was a teen. The doctor said it was all the candy she ate. (I didn't think she ate that much) Anyway, I avoided sugar like the plague since the 60s. Guess what? Three years ago, I found out I was diabetic. No sir... it's not sugar. You keep working out, keep your weight down, and eat a healthy diet and stop worrying.
