I picked up a microwave rice cooker from K-mart. I use 2.25 C Basmati rice, 1 Bullion cube, and 3 C +2T of hot water. (measurements are based on the scoop that come with the rice cooker - converted into standard cup measurements)
Put the lids on the cooker, pop it in the microwave for 18 minutes at 70% power... perfect fluffy rice every time.

Definitely invest in a rice cooker we got one as a Christmas gift and we use it at lest twice a week you won't believe how much better the rice tastes trust me and they only cost about thirty dollars. Just make sure that before you cook the rice that you rinse it well with cold water or it will have a smell to it and be really sticky

I use long grain rice and cook one part rice to two parts water. Cook for about 15-18 mins on the lowest heat on the hob - check after 15 mins to be on safe side.
I find basmati rice to be a bit stickier but long grain goes nice and fluffy and all the grains separate this way.
Hope that helps :)

you may both get a rice steamer or practice dinner rice in a pot over the range. the bigger the pot the more suitable room for fluffiness. The ratio for cooking rice is a million:2. often times i exploit a million cup of rice for 2 cups of water and infrequently i exploit a million.5cups of rice to three cups of water if I wan't leftovers. Stovetop technique: placed one cup of rice in a large pot with 2 cups of water [ or different fluid, like chicken inventory ] and convey to a boil stirring on occasion so the rice doesn't persist with the bottom of the pot. as quickly because it has come to a boil, end stirring and placed a lid on it and turn it right down to low [2-3] for twenty minutes. [do no longer get rid of lid till waiting to serve... No peeking!!] Take the pot off the nice and cozy temperature after the 20 minutes are up and do not elevate the lid till waiting to serve. it ought to stay like that for 0.5 an hour even. The trick is under no circumstances to elevate the lid and placed the lid lower back on. For some reason which will make your rice gummy. once you're prepared to serve, fluff with a fork and revel in. note: you may also rinse the rice in a strainer in a bowl till the water runs sparkling. I have executed that and it hasn't made a noticable massive difference in my rice so I bypass that step.

rinse with cold water, until water comes off clear.
place in pan cover with water, if 1/2 inch rice in pan put 1/2 inch water over top of rice
add butter to water
cover with aluminum foil and bake 350 for about 30 min
time is really oven dependent but should be close

The secret is to rinse the rice very well with cold water before you cook it. boil it till its three quarters cooked and then steam it. ( a collander and pot make a good substitute if you dont have a steamer). Try adding veg/chicken stock to the water when boiling the rice - just makes it that much more interesting!!
