Nope, soybeans are white.

I have made my own soymilk at home, and it is a great thing to try if you are interested. the key is to keep the soybean pulp hot, while blending it.

The brief instructions are to soak the soybeans overnight, changing the water a couple of times. Then, boil twice the amount of water to beans, and blend water and beans in a blender for a minute. Next, put the mixture through a cheesecloth (saving the okara, or pulp, if you want to cook with it) and simmer the "milk" for 20 minutes.

Click the link below to see a photo of actual soy beans.

Soy beans are white.

One makes soy milk by grinding soy beans up, the cooking them in hot water, then straining the pulp.

Rather like making coffee.

Soymilk is made by soaking soybeans in water, then pressing them to extract the 'milk'. Soybeans are not black, they are a very light brown color with the skin and off-white without the skin. The soymilk is a lighter shade of this same off-white color.

Soymilk is pretty much a mixture of soybean flour and water. There are some other things in it, but thats the simplest way to explain it. So flour and water make a white liquid.
