I have had genital herpes for a year and just found out. I have also miscarried twice within a year and the doctor said its probably because of the herpes. I am taking Valtrex - so how long should I wait before getting pregnant again?

that is something you need to discuss with your DR

I would talk to your dr...I would also ask more on why the herpes may be causing the miscarriages. I have herpes and i have been trying to have a baby and I've never been told that the herpes may be the reason why I can't get pregnant. I would talk to your dr or another dr and/or look at the side effects and warnings for Valtrex to see if you could still take it if you were to get pregnant. I don't think I would wait a real long time to try getting pregnant again...as long as the dr oks it and that you are ready. There are a lot of different problems that can arise the older you are when you get pregnant...so I wouldn't wait any longer than you absolutely have to.

I dont know how long you should wait but you can still have children and not affect them. If you are having an outbreak at time of delivery then your doc will do a c-section and if you want to be on the safe side you can get a c-section. Best of luck!

I am sorry you have herpes, it is a terrible disease and incurable. I think you should talk to your doctor regarding getting pregnant. I don't think you should risk giving Herpes to a baby.

You need to talk your doctor and ask him. If you decide to have a baby you will need to have a c-section to prevent passing it to your baby.
