Isn't lust a sin?How many people lust after a steak?Or kill an animal just to have a hamburger, not when it is needed.Eating meat goes a against morality, because it involves an immoral act, killing.

Some religions do believe that killing an animal or any living thing is wrong. I believe hindus and buddhists believe this.

Christians and Jews feel that God gave them authority over the animal kingdom for their use.

Ever since time began "Men" have had the need to hunt for foods to survive. When we were born we have free will to eat anything we desire. God gave some rules in the holy books what to not eat. Plus what is given to eat. In most cases we follow our parents the ways of our families. Some decide it's not for them and change their eating habits. There are some animals I would find hard to kill for food. I love all creatures. In my country we do not see slaughter before we eat the meat. It's done away from sight....in a slaughter house then delivered to the stores..we just see it all wrapped in plastic...we don't hear the animal's cry!
Probably if we did we would start grazing like the animals we are eating....

If you're starving or if it's self defense then maybe it's ok, but anything else is sin, and animals do have souls, certainly more than some humans in this world...

If you want to talk sin, then look in the Bible. Man was given dominion over the beasts. It means we outrank them. If you want to talk biology, look in a mirror. If you were evolved to eat only plants, you would have cow teeth. Not to mention a very real need for protein, especially when growing. Yes, it is barely possible to get enough protien from vegetative sources. If that is all you have to do, figure what beans and which rice go together. There is no I repeat no complete protein source in plants. You have to mix and match to get complete proteins. Feed a cow nothing but meat for a week and see how healthy it is. Feed a person nothing but meat and call it the Adkins diet.
Look....I respect your right to not eat meat. I even respect groups like PETA when they fight for better treatment of animals. I have cats and love them. But I own them. They are pets and not people. Animals should not be mistreated. They should not be unduly experimented on. I did say unduly, if experimenting on animals can save humans, go for it. Again I say people outrank animals. I can be kind to animals and believe in only humane killing of meat and love a good steak. I have also stopped my car to remove tortoises from the road more than once. Disagreeing with you does not make me a sinner, or even a bad person. It just makes me a person who does what she feels is right, irregardless of how much propaganda is put out by those who don't agree with me.

Killing an animal unjustly is sin. Animals are here as a food source and as company. To kill an animal just for the fun of it is wrong and sinful.

Killing a man is harder to justify.
