Your family most certainly can be exposed to the same organism that caused your baby's infection. The germs that cause pneumonia are present in fluids from the mouth and nose of the infected person, and can be spread through coughing, sneezing, or touching the eyes or mouth after touching these fluids. The term pneumonia refers to a stage where sicknesses like the flu, or a rhinovirus, have progressed to infect the lungs. They may not get sick at all, or may not get ill to the extent where they're diagnosed with pneumoonia, but they can catch your child's illness.

Hello, This is the second time I have heard a parent is saying there very young child is very sweet etc. but has a violent problem. Being a mother of a autistic child I have been and going to child mental health people on a regular bases to help me with my child and my other kids. I have been told, and taught when a child is hitting you not to hit back by spanking (I never got that either, you are trying to teach your kid not to hit but you are hitting them, does not make sense). What you do is hold the kid where his/her hands, feet, teeth can not hurt you. Keep the child in the hold until the child stops fighting. This does not hurt the child, and best thing the child does not hurt you. I have had to do this only a couple times. My boys have never tried hitting me after I learned this. Heavens forbid if they hit me now, all three of them tower over me now.... Hope this helps you, it cost me some money to learn this :0) and it works! BTW; I went up there reading how these people are telling you to grab your little girls arm, if you do this and leave bruises you have to think about someone calling cps on you. A bruised child is a abused child. Be careful if this is what you choose to do.

No, pneumonia is what happens when a virus doesn't "leave" quickly enough. It's a respritory infection. Infections can't be caught. It's like an ear infection. They can't be caught, but the cold that started it can. Ick. Bronchitis is another nasty little infection. This is know, because it's what I have gotten. Along with the sinus infection. Winter in Wisconsin is toooooo much fun.

The short answer is "no." While the initial infection might have been contagious, pneumonia is essentially a complication of a respiratory infection, and is not in and of itself contagious.

yes, pneumonia is highly contagious. if you have another child in the house, it is best to keep him away from your daughter. adults can also be infected, but since we are more resistant, we can get by. what is important is she gets her medications and after a week, she will get better.

no pneumonia is not contagious....you will probably find that the pheumonia was a secondery infection....meaning that the child initially had a virus and could not fight it and it progessed onto the lungs....the initial virus would in most cases be contagious....

I think that you should talk to a doctor about that. But as far as that goes, you are a less of a risk of getting it because as an adult, your immune system is stronger.
