The only sure fire way to prevent pregnancy is to abstain from sexual intercourse.

Apart from that, the techniques used to prevent pregnancy fall under the general topic of "contraception", also known as "birth control". These include a variety of medicines, devices and techniques to prevent pregnancy.

The best of these include:

o "The Pill" - the oral contraceptive pill, and related to this is the progesterone only pill. The former having a 0.1% failure rate with perfect use and the latter having 0.5% failure rate with perfect use.

o Condoms - when used properly the condom is >90% effective in preventing pregnancy - even more effective when used in conjunction with a spermicide (wikipedia cites 2% failure with perfect use, 15% failure with typical use)

o Diaphragm - used with a spermicide this device is >75% effective in preventing pregnancy

o Intrauterine Contraceptive Device - there are a variety of these and the choice to have one of these is best discussed with your doctor

...

The worst include

o No contraception

o The Rhythm Method (this is in fact better used as a way to try and BECOME pregnant)

o Withdrawal Method (coitus interruptus)

If you're trying to prevent your own pregnancy, I suppose you could
murder any guys you see.

Of course, that might have other consequences.

Or, you might try not having sex.

Or, you might find an appropriate method of birth control - condoms are
a pretty good place to start.

The key here is to prevent the sperm from meeting with the egg and then
implanting. There are lots of methods - but condoms are very reliable
when used correctly, and have the extra benefit of avoiding the spread
of many (though not all) sexual diseases.

Of course, if abstinence is possible and appropriate, it is 100% effective.
No form of birth control can boast that.

To not have sex, obviously. Or to have non-vaginal sex, if you simply cant control yourself for whatever reason. You still have to take precautions to not get STD's or else youre just gambling with your future just as much as if you get pregnant....not just killer STD's, but also STD's that will make your future a living hell and embarrassment. Better to be akward for a few minutes and be very careful to prevent those kinds of things, than to be living an entire LIFE of akwardness because you werent careful or were embarressed.

In women people who're purely somewhat getting adequate power, nursing decreases fat shops adequate to suppress ovulation. Ovulation relies upon on TSH, it extremely is in part according to adequate fat shops (long description is warranted yet i think of of you're able to try this study). purely like anorexic women human beings many situations have not got menses (as a result they're truly no longer ovulating), women those with low caloric intake and are nursing do now no longer ovulate. yet enable me reiterate, you're able to desire to be on a very low calorie nutrition recurring and maximum western women human beings get somewhat some nutrition and that they do ovulate on a similar time as nursing. Breastfeeding does now no longer intervene with implantation or the variety of a fetus, purely ovulation. It has now no longer some thing to do with oxytocin, regardless of if some women human beings come across they have a decreased libido from the greater effective effective oxytocin on a similar time as nursing that no longer in many situations stops women human beings from being sexual energetic. Nursing an infant on a similar time as subsistence living (living off the land and not our way of existence once you're utilising computers) could desire to be an useful ability of transport administration. the somewhat it sluggish.

Abstainence! Otherwise, the best way is tubal ligation, followed by the birth control pill/patch.

Abstinence is always the very best way, next to a hysterectomy.
