a bit of clarification....Bayer is just a brand of aspirin.....all aspirin is good for heart health.

studies have shown that 81 mg of aspirin is as effective as 325mg of aspirin for providing the beneficial effecial effects to the heart. with the 81 mg, you also have a lower incidence of gastrointestinal problems (such as ulcers) vs the 325 mg.

bottom line...stick with the baby aspirin and get the coated form if possible.

Who are you asking? Bayer or a doctor?

If you ask a doctor, they will tell you it is statistically proven to lower the risk of a heart attack.

If you ask Bayer, they will do their best to twist the truth toward implying Bayer aspirin is what lowers the chance.

What lowers heart attack rate? Aspirin or the benevolence of the Bayer corporation?

Consider the source and the answer is obvious.

Bayer is just a name brand. 325mg per day is not usually necessary (unless you have a heart condition and it is prescribed by your physician). 81mg per day is the amount that is most commonly given. Consult your doctor before starting ANY medication (even over-the-counters)!
If you are really concerned with heart health, there is no better prevention then good old exercise and healthy diet!

Yes asprin works by preventing platelets from aggregating. First of all you should consult your doctor before doing something like this. Asprin for long term use is taken in a low dose form 81mg if memory serves me correct. Also you want one with a strong coating so it does not upset your stomach.

Yes, but if you take it daily as a heart medication it may upset your stomach. Try using a coated aspirin such as "Ecotrin".... I think that's the name, I am not trying to promote any specific product.

Yeah, the brand isn't important. And in many cases, 81mg is as good as 325, talk to your doctor.

YES. Ask your doctor the next time you see him/her & you'll hear the same thing. Actually, most people only need 81mg daily.
