47 year old woman, known to take vicadon, and xanax dies in sleep, say it was heart attack?

Yes it could be. Those drugs are respiratory suppressants and could cause a person to stop breathing which would lead to a heart attack. Especially if she took more than the recommended dose. It happens all the time.

Any time that a person is on those kind of meds a person can die. Although relatively safe both xanax and vicodin (any med that lowers heart rate and respiratory rate) can cause death in sleep. If she was taking more than prescribed or them both together could cause the above. Respiratory failure can cause a heart attack since if you don't get O2 to your heart it tends to work to hard thus causing heart attack. They give morphine to dieing people to speed up the death process. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Well the only way she could have died from the medications. Unless she took an over dose of one of them. Vicadon can be addictive. Did they said,it came from the medication,probably not unless she over dose

There is apossibly some underlying cause of the heart attack, such as a undiagnosed medical condition. One could be from overexertion, but those are the only ones I know of. Some people can have heart attacks and no one knows why. Just another mystery of the human body.

They say cardiopulmonary arrest on the death certificate. That just means the heart stopped.

I know opiates and benzo's are very dangerous drugs when taken together and there have been people dying while taking them at doctor prescribed doses (even while in a medical facility). It's pretty scary.

I'd say it was an overdose and she stopped breathing.
