u could be having some underlying problem, such as a thing called c.o.p.d.(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or a onset of asthma. the dr. needs to give u a breathing test to check just whats going on. cough drops wont help.you didnt say when you have this pain if ur heart was speading up or not. but see ur dr. to make sure this isnt a heart releated problem also. but dont let what i say scare u. ill pray for u. god bless.

I agree with Edward W....its sounds like Pneumonia ...I have had this several times ,the first time I didn't know what it was so I put off going to the doctor and d*** near died...my lungs are scared up because of it....Get your self to the ER or doctor ASAP...this isn't something to play around with........

Maybe have undiagnosed asthma or a chest infection, the only way to find out for sure is to be examined by a doctor;

I can think of several causes....none of which will be helped with cough drops.
I'm not about to offer up a diagnosis over the Internet. You need to see a doctor.
This isn't likely to resolve itself on its own.

Well Leo, you could have a spontaneous pneumothorax (dangerous), pneumonia (might become dangerous, pleuritic pain (need to know why), .... Based on the symptoms you described, you should see a doctor.
