The best thing to make sure you don't get a hangover is drink a ton of water throughout the day, before you go out. Hangovers are caused by dehydration. Drink a couple of glasses of water while you're out and after you get home.
Make sure you don't drink on an empty stomach. I'd eat about 2 hrs before I go out.

The reason you get a hangover is because your body dehydrates.
The minimum amount of water a healthy adult should drink is 10 eight ounce glasses a day. Over weight people should drink an extra glass for every 20 pounds of weight over their ideal.

Drink a glass of water with every alcoholic drink throughout the night (or day). If you know that you are going to be drinking. drink a LOT of water throughout the day BEFORE drinking alcohol. Also drink a LARGE (Extra large) glass of water before you go to bed at night. It even is a good idea to keep a glass on your nightstand.
This REALLY does work. As long as you keep your body hydrated.. you will NOT get a hangover.

When knowing you are going out on a night with the crew to do some drankin' there are a few simple guidelines to follow. First setup a base in your stomach. Eat a good meal a few hours before hand, lots of protein and not much carbs, you will get plenty of carbs from the booze later, sushi is a perfect item. Second, don't mix and match to much, keep it simple, pick a liquor and stick with it. Try to stay away from high sugar schnapps, and cordials. Third drink plenty of water through out the night, have a few drinks then drink a glass of water with no ice. Warmer water will be absorbed quicker into your system and help your liver regulate your body. Lastly, your body is smarter than you are, especially with a head full of booze, listen to your insides and don't push it, Unless you are in Montley Crue, and you are indestructible anyway, Have Fun Kids!!

Drink vodka straight. It is more distilled than other forms of alcohols so the hangovers tend to be easier. (Adding sugar in the form of mixers makes the hangovers worse). Since hangovers are caused in a large part by dehydration, drink at least one glass of water between each alcoholic drink.

Take it from a ex-alcholic the best 2 ways to avoid a hang over is dont drink and if you do drink pickle juice or eat a pickle before you start drinking. If you notice there are pickles in every liqoir store or bar. They are there for a reason which is to stop you from getting a hang over so take advantage of it also drink plenty of water before drinking because the hang over is caused from the alchohol de-hidrates your body, Good luck and party on !

Go for drinks lighter in colour. There is much truth to the theory that paler drinks, with fewer natural darkening chemicals, reduce hangover. So, drink vodka or gin and your hangover will be minimal. Enjoy!

I've found that I get very drunk on vodka quite quickly but it doesn't give me a very large hangover, especially if I drink a couple of pints of water before bed.
But I wouldn't recommend getting drunk just for the sake of it!

Take some milk thistle capsules before you go out, Stick with clear spirits and if you're going to have a mixer go for juice rather than pepsi and drink plenty of water before you go to bed. Oh and don't mix your drinks
