Okay** Before you continue reading, note that this is for mature people preffarably over the age of 20.

I know that the main and most common way to contract STD's is by sexual intercourse, but I've been taught that you can also contract an STD like AIDS by making out. I've never REALLY made-out before, and I am scared when I find that special guy, he'll have experience and might be infected.

So is it true you can get an STD by making out? (if there is a cut in my or his mouth and he is infected) ??

Theoretically yeah it is *possible.*
HOWEVER
Hepatitis B is like 60 x's more infective than HIV. So I would be more worried about that than AIDs. Anytime you come in contact with a stranger's body fluids you run the risk of catching something from them... be it a cold or be it Syphilis. You can get Chylamydia from a toilet seat at a McDonald's, you can get scabies from sitting next to some one with them, you can get crabs from trying on clothes at the mall.
Just be careful and be ballsy enough to ask him where he has been. And as a general rule of thumb don't make out with total strangers.

Kissing is fairly safe, but you do have some risk

like what a few other people have said, herpes can be passed through kissing. about 70% of the US has oral herpes and most got it trhough kissing. Even an innocent pop kiss from mother to child will give a child a life sentence. But its not the end of the world
If you do have it, just dont be too active with the oral sex, and its relatively manageable with the right meds. Even over the counter Abreva does a good job suppressing oral Herpes

HIV is almost impossible to get while kissing. there has been no recorded cases of this occurring

Syphilis is actually highly contagious during stage two and can be spread through kissing. You would probably know if someone is at stage two because they could have blisters in the back of their mouth and sores all over their genitals and possibly lesions on their skin. Stage two isnt too common because in the US early intervention is often taken before that occurs

What I'm trying to get to is that you might get an STD, but if your not a wild woman and doing wild and crazy things, you'll probably get hit by lightning before that happens. So your probably clean.

If you have cold sores from kissing, well, you've joined the 70+ percent that also have it.
